Any codes...even pending codes.
DSC is off I assume.
I've seen misfires shut the DSC and ABS down in my own car. Being it was so hot it's possible you had a few.
I know it's a reach, but it is an odd thing so while it was fresh in my head I figurted I'd share.

Sorry I failed to mention......
No codes, not even pending.
However, I did not check for codes until after the restart when the light was back to being off.
And yes, DSC is off. -
Sorry, thats all I gots..
I know this is surly not your first DE at those temps..
BTW, what track? -
TWS, so not only pretty hot, but pretty damn fast too. A bunch of folks from MM made it out.
Miserably hot, being in a garage makes a huge difference.
And yeah, tomorrow will be interesting if with no ABS some of the time. I might have to dial it back a bit. -

Maybe just an ABS sensor that is getting hot and flaking out?

Same thing I was thinking....ABS/speed sensor.

Yeah it is likely something like that. Whatever 'it' is, it is ok and ABS is working fine unless it gets too hot.
It is possible to drive a MINI at the limit on track with no ABS but it sure is more difficult. The rears really like to lock-up with no ABS. -
Oh yeah, I found the brake bias manageable without ABS to run my usual XP10s up front, and then go all the way down to the Bobcats(i.e. XP-1521) in the rear.
Still, you pretty much need to stick with straight line braking. The light ass-end likes to lock-up and swing around to the front big time. You almost have to forget about threshold braking. -
Checked with Jan?

Could be a bad ABS pump, too.

OK, I finally made my way to the local shop with an Autologic:
5E19, 5E1A CAN data fault from DME/DDE
5DF5 internal fault
The shop admittedly has limited experience with these fault codes as the ABS unit rarely fails. However, that limited experience would indicate that the ABS module is toast.
Since this is a thermal related observation, I will investigate some type of heat shielding but I am not going to hold my breadth as it is a difficult area to thermally protect.
I might need to just get a new/used replacement.
Anyone know of good sources for good quality and tested R53 MINI mechanicals??
