    Just gathering more info, aside from the 1 that split in half (w/c may have been defective & isolated), have you seen any of the DC pumps fail on track, ModF?

    Jan, keeping the M45, what ewp would you recommend as a good alternative to DC & stock? I know your experience is immense, your voice, respected. Perhaps you can share some guide & pics?

    The kit I was talking about was for the M45 SC. It came with a plate for removing the gears off the back of the SC and adding a electric water pump. It was about $300.00

    Why put a bandaid on the problem, instead of fix the cause of the problem all together though? It's almost the same money as the bandaid.

    Because I like bandaids especially ones with pretty unicorns on them. They look good on my booboo's :biggrin5::biggrin5:
    The thread started about electric water pumps. I'm just saying someone makes a kit to do this. I saw it about two years ago.
    I don't know anything about the Sprintex debate. Or care. All I know is I better see a dyno pull for that!! No man just pullen your chain. :biggrin5:

    So why are you bringing rebuilding part of the M45 to keep the stock mechanical W/P working into this thread? It is about electric pumps, not the Sprintex and its inevitable failure, or rebuilds for PTO gears on the stock S/C.

    I have put a better option on the table over the DC EP80, the guy that knows how to run the pump reliably in a MINI has made an appearance in the thread, why are we still chasing our tails on this one?

    Thanks! Wouldn't that be great if it turns out to be a reliable kit?
    On a lighter note, why did engineers complicate forced induction systems when simple kits such as this can be had for cheap?:D

    Is there any more info on a viable and reliable electric pump? I'm seriously considering this and actually have been since I bought my mini about 4 years ago plainly because I actually had an electric pump on my last car (a 180sx SR20det). I was running a davies craig pump though I only had this setup on the car for a month before I decided to sell up for the Mini so I can't comment on DC reliability and my bum dyno isn't as fine tuned as others so I can't really preach about a gain in power from ridding the engine of a mechanical pump, also most of the parasitic drag would have come from the clutch fan rather than the pump.

    Anyway, If I were to go ahead replace the pump with an electric, would it be a simple case of replacing the PTO with a metal plate? Or should I remove the smaller gear as well?

    Please if you have any info let us know because this is a serious idea I'd love to run with.
