:lol::lol::lol: NO way $60 hr at a dealer, for that price I'll sublet my work to them and still make money.

    Our local dealers are $135hr.

Well, maybe he saw an invoice for labor which was being paid by an insurance company...the labor rates here are 1.5 higher for consumers paying out of pocket vs. same work being paid by an insurance company.

It was last year and I had them diagnose a strange problem that turned out to be a small tear in one of the intercooler boots, they chargeded me 1 HR and the two boots and they had the MINI for three days! The two boots and the labor was like 180.00, although they did bang me on the boot price :)

Ok, I am officially old now! Lol found the receipt, it was 125.00 per hour. Damn and that was only last year...... What goes after the memory?

$160 to $175 /hr in the San Francisco Bay Area. I'm surprised that the rates are lower in NYC.

$135/hr is about the norm, warranty rate is usually a little lower ~$120/hr

Luckily I get employee rate $45/hr

I think $60 an hour is not going to happen at a dealer anywhere. Even independent shops charge much more. Sad, but true it costs a lot to keep our cars in top shape.

I don't know if they are that cheap, but I have have heard several times that MINI of Morristown is far cheaper for parts and labor than surrounding dealers.

Heck, I charge $120 an hour to fix your computer. That's pretty standard for specialist work these days.

Last I checked MINI of Dallas was $120 hr but with a discount for MetroplexMINI members that brought it down to ~$100hr

MAG (Midwestern Auto Group) here in Columbus doesn't break it down on their invoice. Best I can figure from what I have paid them is $130/hr

Is it no wonder that people say look for the local independent shop? Labor rates are lower, often on a big job they will adjust the hours when working in the same area anyway and they don't charge MINI MSRP +10% for parts. Check the Local Shops listings for a shop near you.

I find this all very interesting....
My labor rate is $75.00/hr and I'm creating "one offs" from scratch.
With them the ECU tells them what's wrong so they can be "parts changers".... I need to think about raising my rates....
Sorry, I digress, back on topic....:D

I got a quote for $4400 for parts and labor for the JCW tuning kit. Personally, I do not think this is worth it for 9hp.

I tuned my Porsche Spyder @ the dealer with a 55hp boost for less money.

Being as my local deal has recently reduced rates I figured I'd bring this back up to discuss and see what others are paying.
