"Running like a dog" refers to the loss of performance....
Many folks got updated software, sometimes with a walnut cleaning, sometimes not, and saw the car was slower...but software, and willing to bet the variable valve timing was adjusted in the tune to try to limit the carbon...the n18 hast the vvt on intake AND exaust....The n14 on only one...but folks reported same thing...less aggressive timing means less performance, but MAYBE less carbon..
Did it "fix" the issue? Well...not everybody got it...the reason...guessing it was given to folks who drive the cars very lightly...and was carboned up during the warrenty period....those folks might not miss the loss of HP, but value the extra miles before a cleaning....
Mechanical items are inexact....
And sometimes you cannot extended the level of EXACTNESS or precession that computers have...see this in lots of questions online...
You know them...the "I ran out of gas with 10 miles left on the time till empty", etc...and the same is true here....
Some folks don't have carbon issues....some have HUGE issues based on drive cycle, use, and habits.....
Sometimes folks seek an exact answer, where there are nothing but best guesses or the suggestion from a trusted pro...
I STRONGLY SUGGEST YOU GET TO KNOW A LOCAL MINI SHOP....judging by your threads, it would have made ownership much more fun, cheaper, and less stressful...
Course, you can keep asking here for fun... -
