Now that i finally got my classic back its time to clean up a couple months of grime and pollution off the paint..started with the roof as its the largest surface area on the car... this is months of surface crap in the paint... after some extensive use of a clay bar...getting there... a before and after...left side is clay barred and waxed using the Porter Cable buffer using Prima Swirl after the clay bar you can see the swirls and scratches much better and the finished product...needs a couple more coats of wax before moving on to the rest of body
Here is an update...as ive been laying down coats of wax on the roof ive turned to the front end clay barring it and getting it prepped...the roof is the biggest pain but usually when thats done the rest goes quick... laying down more coats of wax... taping off the front end...paint is not bad but you can see its kinda fuzzy looking sprayed down with quick detailer what came off the paint after the first pass
first coat of wax on the passenger side of the front end this is how i apply wax evenly across the surface...pour it on the pad then squish along the surface so shiny smooth and green you can even claybar glass! the crap that came off the windshield
another night...another update driver side door is clay bar'd door is done...quarter panel not yet... clay right..untreated left no teef...no chin...but my face is getting prettied up now we are getting shiny!
didnt get alot done this weekend but i pulled her out so i could clean up my garage a bit this is probably the shiniest the roof has ever looked...doesnt even look black anymore as its reflecting everything and the back end...only clay'd right now
Looks good as new!! I miss detailing my Classic, took half the time as my R53 When the warmer weather (and the road salting stops) I need to detail my car. I have a lot of swirls in paint that need to be buffered out.
:cornut: The rear window sticker, does it say: 'Who Dares Wins' or 'Who Minis Wins'? Just curious as the former is the SAS Regt and the latter is a Mini Club. Or is it something all together different? Jason
looky what came in the mail today all the way from the other side of the pond...1098cc head for my 998cc
Finally done! here is a pic of the front end with the grille and bumper reattached...took the clay bar to the chrome and then some metal polish and elbow grease completed pics in the daylight to come in a few hours!
Finally seen in the light...took my mini to MINI Thunder IV, which is held at Thunderhill Raceway in Willows, CA... doing parade laps at the track
got a few more item's on the way...1.5:1 roller tip rockers, copper head gasket, arp headstuds....oh and i have a weber carb lurking in the corner
