I DID WORK on two projects this weekend! First up was Goldsmithy's I/C diverter... Which was a total disaster on Saturday! I'm trying to copy the exact process that was used on his coolant tank as close as I can, but made a few mistakes. So I stripped 4 hours worth of work plus an hour of dry time off, and resprayed all three colors. If I'm not happy with the way something turns out, it doesn't leave my shop... I wasn't happy. That was supposed to look like this. After somehow getting everything resprayed before it got too cold with enough dry time for everything to set properly Saturday night, I woke up and took the paint down into this... Almost a perfect match on the base.
After that was getting all that big gold flake on... (Honestly I think it coulda used just a touch more) The mix! The result!!!
Thanks for crashing the site as I was trying to post this last night Nathan! The other project up is the set of mirror caps I'm doing to sell at the Dragon... Yeah they're going to be another girly set, but lets face it... Most GUYS don't want or care about customized mirrors. Unless a guy like Wales has a theme going on with the car, and some sort of graphics most guys would stick to a solid color. That's too easy! I want to do the crazy stuff to show off, and the ladies go crazy over that kind of stuff. So, if you look back in the thread, and find the skulls I was asking about, that's going to be the main center graphic in a Medium Silver with Chrome Silver flake. Then there's going to be pink candy hearts as secondary graphics, on a black leather patina pattern. I also got these done to where they are ready for the stenciling... The base color (Lauren said go dark) came out just right. Then the flake, I used a half&half mix of Black and Chrome Silver and threw in a touch of pink candy. The result, the camera can't capture! In the sun especially, it just blinds the lens out.
I should have you do something for my dash inserts some time. Don't know what I'd have you do, but the generic silver checker board is a bit hum drum
The sky is the limit Grizld! Just start hitting me with ideas of what kind of stuff you like... You're on my FB and the paint shop page. Your car is blue, so thats a start! And if you're going to the Dragon, I can save you on shipping costs... One way at least, and you'll be front loaded on the ever growing list! I'm technically not "opening" until June 1st for a reason.
Got all the graphic designs off to Artistic Reflection this morning... Kristan says come pick them up tomorrow night! Should be able to finish both projects over the weekend! Here's the previews. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Got a little bit done over the weekend... No clearcoat on anything yet. And the mirrors... Only got one most of the way ready... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Finally! Now that I can log back in on my phone... Goldsmithy's I/C diverter is completed now it's just getting the mirrors done hopefully this weekend. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Ha Ha! Thanks guys! Still gotta get those mirrors done before the Dragon, and it's supposed to snow this weekend! I'll be working on them as much as I can after work until the weather turns to crap. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The Skull & Heart mirror caps are ready for their signatures (one per mirror) then the clearcoat... Here's the final look. (They will be FOR SALE at the Dragon!) Expect a big change in how they look when the clear goes on, they're another thing you have to get close to see and appreciate. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
