Well the Sky Blue candy just got sprayed on them... Next up is taking the remaining stencils off, and flaking the hell out of them with a True Blue .04mm flake! Starting to get crazy!
Dude, you have such mad skillz. Seriously. Your ability to envision this stuff, layer upon layer upon layer, and have any clue what it's going to look like from the start... it just blows me away. And I'm pretty good at envisioning stuff...
Wait until you guys see Goldsmithy's tank! Its knocked down and ready for its final clearcoat! That will be coming first thing tomorrow morning! The snowflake mirrors are ready for the heavy flake... Before I scuffed them up for the next round... Showing the tiny ghosted in flakes...
You doing anything else to the rest of her car? Make for another nice advertisement, kind of one extreme to the other from the Ratrod to this, side by side. That is seriously looking top notch.
I might be down the road, but not quite yet. And thanks! They are coming out just like the picture in my head so far... Once this flake goes on, you guys are going to see some serious SHIFT!
Well... I EFF'ED one up! The mix was wrong, I thinned it out too much, it started to glob up and run. So I tried to thinner wash it out, and now the base coats are starting to peel on the one mirror. Get them fully dry tonight, strip and redo tomorrow. If I can get replacement stencils early in the morning. If not, its looking like next weekend.
Yeah well live and learn...You'll get it right--more stuff like this you do, the fewer mistakes you'll make when you're doing bigger things. Sucks to put all that hard work into it to have an issue, but it's cool you're starting over to get it perfect. Things I've learned the hard way in my work: if it's something critical, always have an extra in the room if possible. Saves a ton of time and heartache.
Its killing me right now to not be putting up pictures of Goldsmithy's tank, but I can't get ahold of him... It goes against my policy of The customer sees it finished first if I put the pic's up. So I'm sitting here, removing a $300 paint job from Erin's mirrors, and waiting for Kristan to call and say the new stencils are done so I can go pick them up. This blotchiness in the flake is not OK with me... I only accept perfect!
Finally got messaged back, and sent Goldsmithy the first pics! Now it's everyone here's turn before I turn them loose on FB. The results are stunning, pic's are unedited iPhone pics! And yes it looks better in person too! Closeups: As a request he wanted me to sign it, so here you go! It's subtle and hides in the paint unless you go looking for it. How about some out in the sun? If you want a closer pic of a spot, let me know... I can't ship it back for a few days so the paint can fully cure.
That is absolutely beautiful. More than I expected. Your signature is PERFECT. It's everything I asked for. Ann thanks you, I thank you and Pepper is very pleased.
