I'm about and hour or so into a three hour trip, when I hear this soft, measured, dinging sound, like a warning. At once I check all the idiot lights, the scan gauge and nothing seems wrong, yet the sound continues. It does not increase or decrease in volume, just dings away. Panic mode sets in, what is this, why have I not heard it before, what is it trying to tell me? I reach over and turn off the CD which, is playing one of those recorded books, and it stops. Hummmmm, turn it back on and it starts again. I do this several times to be certain and find that was the cause. Now why would this be in the background of a recorded book? Possibly someone in the recording studio had a since of humor? :mad2: Jim
Yep, they would have gotten up set when I started knocking on the cockpit door saying, "Do you hear that dinging?" MM, you don't have to turn the disks over anymore. How old is you disk player? Jim
.... I heard about them newfangled CD players, I'm still running my 8 track player hooked up to my reverb with my mirrored "Disco Ball".
Right on. That must be what MM has in his MINI. I would like some pictures of the Disco Ball on the ceiling. Jim
I've heard about them newfangled 8 track players. I'm still running a turntable for my records hooked up to a tube powered amp.
Amp.... Tubes..... Mine just has a crank on the side that winds it up. Ha..... Yeah, and I would also be the crank doing the winding on the side.
If you really think about it, things have really come a long way fast. Back when the items we are talking about were around, things seemed to change slowly and you up upgraded every five years or so. Now an item is obsolete the day after it is released for sale. Things might not have been simpler then, but it sure was a slower pace. Jim
