Excellent news that my home state finally wised up. Of course, the likely reason was because the LEO's spent way too much time cleaning up big rig issues which takes away time from them giving out tickets for going 40 in a 35 Frustrates the crap out of me too Dave, and I'm a dual HD rider. Hey, I don't begrudge the folks who "live the HD lifestyle": wearing SOA-wannabe cuts with HOG patches, show-and-shine nights, riding in packs of 50 or more, most of whom probably can't make a u-turn on a two lane road without putting their foot down, etc. It's just not for me. I'm proud to be the anti-HD HD owner. I ride them for what they are, not what they seem to represent. When I'm on the V-Rod (or CVO), having a great run and the double-wide cruiser in front of me passes up two pull-offs, I just pull off at the next one and gap them.....otherwise, I would go insane :mad2:
There was lots of comments in Killboy's post on FB, saying how doing this will probably increase the presence of LEO. In all actuality, I could see this happening. Hopefully if they do, they work it like when the CSP sees me (or somebody else) messing around in the canyons... If you're not going full retard, they will let you know they saw you (turn on the red&blues) but let it slide and not give chase.
Good news about the trucks! As far as motorcycle riders and car drivers, we all need to share the road. My dad once said, there will always be someone slower than you and someone faster, if we all show respect to each other and share the road, we can all have fun! I know when someone is faster than me, I love to let them by and see what they are doing that could help my driving. Every time I do a run, I try to learn something to help me go faster! All that being said, I still get frustrated when a higher hp car feels they are faster than me and they are not. I try to ask them nicely to please move over and when they don't, I ask a little more aggressively. If this doesn't work, I just pull over and allow some space (and cool off). Let's all have safe fun out there!
Here is the thing about the Dragon and TN LEO's, They are not on the Dragon 24x7. If you know the hours and days the LEO's are on the Dragon don't drive the Dragon.:ihih: If you want to get a ticket drive the Dagon during the day or on Friday, SATURDAY or Sunday. Early mornings and late nights are the best times for LEO free runs if you have to run the Dragon. Also the area has much better wide open roads that are LEO fee for having FUN.
FWIW, as a cyclist, I'm not a fan of people describing us as 'targets.' Anyways, really glad to see Tennessee finally wising up and banning the behemoths from the dragon. Really hoping to make it down there this year.
It's a joke relax. Do you ride your bike on I95 or 76 ? If not you are a cyclist with common sense.
Agreed with Dave, even though I dont like it, and would require hefty registration and insurance fees with a mandatory life insurance policy for road going bikes, and a 2 foot orange triangle signifying that they are designed to travel at less than a 25MPH average speed. I have to accept that they are here. I just wish the LEO would start enforcing the regulations that are in place for them... Single file, faster mode of transportation has the right of way (Cars), that would make dealing with them easier.
I don't take my life as a joke. And no, riding on highways on a bicycle is asinine (not to mention illegal)... and if you're going to do that, you're asking for it. Hefty registration and insurance fees? For what? If you hit a cyclist, that's on you pal. Besides, the vast majority of cyclists already pay hefty registration fees as car owners, and those same bicycle riding car owners also pay their taxes and gas taxes as well. I enjoy bombing backroads just as much as anyone else here, but it's your responsibility to simply keep your eyes open and pay attention. We have equal right to the road as you do in your 4-wheeled cage. And FYI... you don't have the right of way. Share the road. Now, as a cyclist with common sense... I'd never ride the Dragon on a bicycle.
F that share the road crap. If you have never been to the Dragon in a car or on a bike you have no idea of what you are talking about. Why don't you tell me how it is biking on Mars is since you have never been there but you have an opinion. Your posts on the Dragon are completely irrelevant since you have no idea about the road and have never been on it.
Who said I encouraged riding bicycles on the Dragon? Other roads, fair game. The Dragon, no. And for what it's worth, I have family down in that neck of the woods, right outside of Robbinsville. I'm very familiar with the area. You can start sucking on your foot now, please.
Not this agin! Zillon this was a big brew HaHa before you joined I believe. What everyone was trying to say is that some (not all) cyclist are rude and that puts them at risk. Last year I saw a guy riding a bicycle on the Dragon. You said that is not the place for it I agree. No one means any harm and we know each other here so the jokes can get harsh but it is a joke. Lets not go down this road agin (there may be a bicycle on it)
Hey, I can't take responsibility for my fellow cyclists. Just as most drivers suck, there are some shitty cyclists out there, too. So, let's get back to discussing less volatile things.
Around here there are a few responsible cyclists that will at least move to the shoulder for oncoming traffic, but for every one of them theres at least 10 that are ass hats. Share the road... That works both ways!
FWIW, if I'm in the middle of the lane when riding, there's a reason for it, whether it be that I don't want you squeezing between me and oncoming traffic, driving into someone coming around a blind corner, or pushing me into the guardrail of a one lane bridge.
Zillion........if you were to ride your bike like that in OR you would ticketed or dead. It is illegal to ride a bike if it blocks traffic or otherwise impedes travel. Bikes stay to the right and stay on the fog line.
