I think Different Computers is asking about these MM. I kind of wondered at the beginning where I could get my hands on these, but your project as morphed with upgrades, sighting problems, intresting solutions along with some nice craftsmanship that I kind of forgot all about them.
Back in the late '80s I worked at a computer company, right at the time the PC was getting going. We had a customer came in with their computer not working. They said it just stopped and they saw smoke come out of it. We told them "Oh you let the magic smoke out of the chips that's why it stopped". They asked if we had some and could we put it back in the chips. It was SO hard not to burst out laughing. I just told them we could take care if it for them.
Ha Ha..... Those things.... They were some really cheap universal units from NAPA.... Something like $10.00 or so each.... Rubber housing.... The bulbs are GE 4509 100watt units sometimes used as landing lights for some old piper cubs... I changed my mind and went with something that met DOT requirements...
Constructed the final wiring harness needed to power my lights.... Each light will have a dedicated power feed protected by a waterproof fuse holder... Tomorrow will be the day my lights will get fired up for the first time...
Well.... As Mr Roberts so eloquently explains..... Any project, always begins on day 1...... Followed, of course by day 2.... And continues until the project if finished.... And I..... Will soon complete my DIY project......
Little update.... Getting close to being done... Got both lights fitted into the bumper trim.... I still need to made a small metal cover that will fill in the space in the upper right hand corner of the trim.... Got my Challenge splitter installed finally..... Because Racekor... I'll be down at the shop tomorrow putting in the last of the plastic fasteners and upper grill.... Then the MINI gets a nice worsche.....
It has been a long time since Fungo has been out of the shop. He's going to be one happy little car. The lights look fab!
