So it seems there is no thread about this...The Rememberance of 9/11...guess I will start one Men, do not let your sons and grandsons forget what happened on that tragic day... Women, do not let your daughters and granddaughters forget what happened on that tragic day...
you never forget a "sucker punch". My heart goes out to those who lost loved ones on that horrific day...God Bless America!
The morning of 9/11/01 I heard at work about the two airliners that hit the towers. I was able to leave and get home to watch on TV. The strangest thing was when I was leaving work and looked up there were at least 15 contrails in a perfectly blue sky that had made U-turns and headed back the way they had come. Thats when I realized we are in a whole new world. God bless those that ran in as others ran out. NEVER FORGET
I was on the roof of Fort Schuyler, SUNY Maritime College, Bronx, NY...CDR said to go home and take care of the family.
I watched the 3 videos of Presidents, Clinton, Bush, and VP. Biden, at the memorial of flight 93.....there is still unity in this great country! I was truly impressed
I will never forget and I wish they would remind the world every day with something about 9/11 in the news.
“Now, we have inscribed a new memory alongside those others. It’s a memory of tragedy and shock, of loss and mourning. But not only of loss and mourning. It’s also a memory of bravery and self-sacrifice, and the love that lays down its life for a friend–even a friend whose name it never knew.“ PresidentGeorge W. Bush December 11, 2001
Jim... You did a great thing by posting to remember 9/11. Leave it to a fellow MCM dude to rock like that. I just thought I'd share a photo from yesterday's 10 Year Anniversary Ceremony at the California Memorial in Clovis. This Memorial, located at Pelco by Schneider Electric, is the only one of its kind on the West Coast of the USA and was dedicated in December 2001. "10 Generations and 100 Years of Dedicated Service" Pictured from left to right are: Jon Brothers - CAL FIRE Battalion Chief, Retired; Bobby Brothers - CAL FIRE Firefighter II; Billy Hayes - FDNY Firefighter, Retired; Andy Isolano - FDNY Firefighter, Retired; Kent Burkhart - Clovis FD Engineer, Retired. Both Billy and Andy served in the FDNY during the attacks on the World Trade Center, and each worked for many days to follow in the aftermath. Billy retired recently in May 2011 and Andy has been retired since 2002. Each retired due to health conditions developed after the 9/11 attack in New York. It's truly a privilage to have these two brothers in our lives. They are true friends and living testimemt to our Fire Service Broterhood.
Was my pleasure Jon. Awesome pic and info Jon. Robert De niro had a special about the FDNY Sunday night....it was very good. At the end they were talking about the medical problems that some of the men are now having As I am getting older, sons getting older, things like this really get to me.....cars are way down on the important list
