Wow - A few posts back was very uncool. :( I thought the MA banner was "The friendly MINI community". Hmmm?

I've had manuals before, and yes they are lots of fun. In my opinion a stick is a pain in the ass in stop and go traffic, but thats just me.

Minidave, as far as auto's are concerned, your car can easily keep up with the vast majority of stick MINI's out there. The driver is what makes the biggest difference. (Worried about overheating your auto on a long race? Install a better tranny cooler.)

Most folks here are respectful ... most.

So what's next for the "friendly" MINI community? The "my R53 is better than your R56" dogma or perhaps the "superchargers are better than turbos" debate? Sheesh!

The post you are talking about is from an automatic owner and was made as a joke, that's why MetalMan posted the picture of the guy's gearshift in the next post. :) it really is friendly over here.

Oh? Then I stand corrected. I sort of have a chip on my shoulder when it comes to certain subjects....
Just a reflex action from too much NAM... Sorry all.... :(

^^^ My sense of humor usually ends up pissing someone off too... Thanks for the insight.
And now back to the regularly scheduled program...

Drag racing is of no interest to me. Dressing in women's clothes is just kind of creepy to me.

Yes Jim Hall was quite the innovator. I do not recall his Chaparral cars with the powerglide winning any championships. I think something with a manual might have won the championship, but I could be wrong. :)

At least the COP did not give them a ticket, or did he??

    Screamingly funny!

If those of you who like to pull levers and push pedals then try driving an early Caterpillar bulldozer! You get to a point of hands and feet being a blur of motion going from reverse to whatever gear you choose in forward, while turning...

When I built this my only regret was that it was NOT an automatic. To much time wasted shifting...

You got to admit that an "auto GP" on the Dragon (or surrounding area) would be a lot easier. Your hands and feet can get very confused on those roads.

Blimey - Thank goodness you guys are a forgiving bunch. I am one of those crusader types too, but occasionally my launch button malfunctions and I stupidly inflict well meaning comrades with friendly fire. Many apologies. By the way.... nice skull "shift" knob.
