Hope that person did not take someone with him... :frown2:

On a positive note, there couldn't have been a third passenger taken into harm's way. ##billion people can rest easy today.

We were on the way home last night and a woman texting was weaving all over the road... It amazes me how stupid people are...
-
I tried searching for a story but couldn't find anything conclusive. Google has search by image feature (go to images.google.com and click on the camera icon). Most of the result matches are novelty websites that have photo compilations of odd and extreme car crashes, or car forums.
It seems to be from 2005 in New Jersey, the Corvette smashed into a stopped truck on the shoulder. Everything beyond that was speculation in the forums from back then. In hi-res versions of the photo, you can see blood splatter on the back of the truck and an arm is visible in the door opening. -
Given that the truck was stopped, could that maybe have been a suicide then?
-
Oh wow, you can see the arm... That's a bit disturbing.
I'm betting it probably wasn't a suicide Friskie. We have a lot of wrecks around here into the backs of stopped vehicles on the side of the road. People just don't pay attention at all. Some woman killed two pedestrians just last week that had stopped to help someone else out. She wasn't paying attention and didn't see that traffic was stopping. She started to swerve to her left, but swerved back right to avoid a car, and hit the pedestrians instead. Sadly, these type of stories aren't that rare anymore... People do too many other things in their cars instead of just driving. They think they are invincible and the best multitaskers ever (though evidence is showing that multi-tasking isn't actually real), when they aren't. -
It's now FL law to move into the other lane if emergency vehicles are stopped on the shoulder. I just move over if any vehicle is on the shoulder. You never know, a child could dart out on to the road while the adults are looking under the hood. It seems a lot of people get killed just changing a flat tire.

^^^ That is a law in Ohio too. I always have done that, it just seems like common sense. Guess they had to make it a law for the ones without common sense. Know what? Folks here pay no heed to that law.
-
I think here in Ontario it's move over or slow down if not safe to change lanes. As for the Corvette in the back of the truck it does not surprise me. There are many videos out there (usually from cop dash cams) of cars pulled over getting hit. Unless it's an emergency or otherwise unavoidable I will wait for the next exit to pull over.

I just attached the Texting tag to it, It could verywell have been one of those idiots who try to pass traffic on the shoulder and didn't see the parked tractor trailor.
Either way not good results. -

Happens all the time. Drivers go into a trance "following" a vehicle they see in front of them. Sometimes that vehicle isn't moving.

I always find the video with the Sunfire a bit funny. The takes the precaution of standing out of the way, when the car gets hit he pretty much says I told you so
