    Your plan is good just protect the paint with a cloth covered in Reynolds wrap to deflect the heat away from the paint.

    The cloth will stop the aluminum foil from scratching your paint. Also you will not need much heat as most cover only use a thin 3 inch strip of double sided tape in the middle our part of the cover.

    @Sully I have taken two American flags off the top of the R53 using a heat gun. just be careful.

    I would have done Dave.0's plan. If you live in a warm environment, you could park the car outside on a hot summer's day in the sun and let Mother Nature do her thing... then try prying it away.

    Cool - thanks everyone. Not warm enough here yet to for the sun to heat it.. so heat gun with Alum foil it will be... once they get in. :)
