Could be Cosmoline. If it is, Simple Green won't touch it. I have some Cosmonot, a life time supply:lol:, next event we are both at I could bring it along. Cosmoline has a dark yellow/green kind of colour to it. If Simple Green does take it off, it is likely just smutze weeping out of the door.

It seems more like a grease. I'll try the 4:1 water/simple green I use for engine detailing and go from there

OMG... if you guys are fixating on THAT, I need you to come over to my house and I'll give you some REAL work to focus your mad OCD skillz upon.
 -
I wouldn't call it 'fixated'..... more like 'mildly annoyed' but yes my MINI OCDness knows just about no bounds!

One wife, 2 MINI's, 1 Dog, 3 Cats and a House to maintain is a juggling act -
But back on topic- I think that stuff is Cosmoline related (maybe Cosmoline + grime from the road?) -
Beats the alternative that everyone who owned a Gen 1 Mini had to deal with; Rust.

I just looked and I have the same stuff on my door. Never noticed it before, so thanks a lot for pointing something else out.

I'll try the Simple Green this weekend. From what Lotsie is saying it that it won't touch it if it's Cosmoline -
