So with a little more than a week to go before the Dragon (!) I should be doing productive stuff...finishing the Pinewood MINI, working on Car Show swag (Vote for Smurfette, get a prize!), packing, cleaning the house so the house sitter doesnt think we're slobs, etc.. However an interesting bit of trivia surfaced in the Dragon Parade post that has me wondering what else I am missing. It seems the dam jump in the Fugitive movie was filmed at one of the dams. I have also heard that Lynn's Diner was the diner in the film Nell. So who else knows any other MOTD area trivia...movie related or not?
The movie "Nell" with Jodie Foster was filmed around Fontana, Cheohah area. The movie "Thunder Road" about moonshiners was filmed in the area(depending on which web info your read), some with actual moonshiners with cameras mounted on their cars. Annette
"Nell" cabin scenes were filled on Lake Santeetlah in Robbinsville as well. Graham county is the birthplace of country music legend Ronnie Milsap The county was formed January 30, 1872 Two-thirds of the county is the Nantahala National Forest with elevation ranges from 1,177 to 5,560 feet The silent film, Stark Love, was filmed in Graham County and featured local residents as actors. The county has only three stop lights. Persons per square mile: 27.4 (North Carolina average is 165.2) The county is the only dry county in North Carolina
The last one is a bummer, but the others were interesting. I like the limited number of stoplights. Jim
