The website says now that they open on the 12th. I'm doing the Donut Run and one of the Brewery Drives. The traditional MoM registration volunteer shift is Thursday AM with Mr. And Mrs. Jim.
We think we might have a possibility of maybe opening registration for an hour after the welcome dinner. Please think about volunteering then as well. But we are not sure yet. So anyone thinking I'll just go pick up my stuff then, don't plan on it yet. It's still up in the air.
The only drive I sign up for is the morning Donut Drive all the rest I let the new people attending sign up for. Plus this way I don't have to be anywhere at anytime and I am free to run the Dragon or a day long lunch run with friends. After we all get back we wash the cars and drink some beers ( ok LOTS OF BEER) make an unhealthy dinner. It is a vacation after all.
One thing that really pisses me off is when people sign up for a run and don't show for that run. This seems to have increased the last few years, but has always occurred though. Last year we wanted t make one particular run, we knew it was full but decided to show up anyway. 30 people registered only 16 showed up for the run. Not sure how to prevent this and I totally understand things come up, but dang people. Don't sign up for crap you know you ain't gonna make!
I'll drive thru the Dragon to Fontana on Tuesday and back thru the Dragon from Fontana to home on Saturday. While in NC, I'll drive the area's roads...not signing up for any particular drives and thus eliminating the congested group drives. I DO have one particular drive in mind, but it fills fast so I don't want to jeopardize my chances of signing up quite yet.
Anybody know what gives with the jumbled dates for sign up? Per an earlier post in this thread, I also noticed that the sign up dates for activities had changed from 1/11, which is what was showing when I registered on 1/3(I got online just after midnight today and noticed the sign up dates had changed to 1/12). So, I was going to get back online just after midnight tomorrow, 1/12. I just went in and checked for grins, and apparently, they opened the sign-ups sometime on 1/11-today anyway? Virtually everything we were going to sign up for is closed. I know this sounds like whining, and I know the MOTD director does all of this in his spare time and doesn't get paid for it, but I just hate it when I do everything according to instructions and get shut out, you know? :cryin: It was going to be our first MOTD and I was determined to get locked in to the runs we really wanted to do....bummer....maybe next year.
I don't even see where to sign up for drives. I only do the donut run and I don't think we have a limit for that one.
Jeff, sign up for the Donut Run. We always spend the days doing freestyle runs which I'm sure you will be attending. With 2 MoM houses there is plenty to do.
This year it's let the NEWBIEs sign up and get the experience. I am going to hang back and taking pictures and maybe do some exploring of "Uncharted Waters" with some friends. Lets see what else is out there.
I signed up for Donuts and 1 other, rest of the days, going to hang and visit. Maybe on Saturday do a solo, then Sunday take my normal route out of the area, heading Southwest, then North again. Don
