Well, she's all done for now! What do you think?
Outfitted with Stoptech Slotted Cryo Treated all around. Brembo pads on the front and Akebono Euro ceramic pads in the back. Topped off with "S" valve stem caps. Now I want to paint my calipers red....I didn't think that part through. Should have planned better.
Interestingly, when I took her for a drive after all was done, i was getting a loud clicking sound coming off of the driver rear. It stopped after a bit. I'm just assuming it was the pads getting used to the slotted rotor?
Overall, I'm extremely happy with how she came out and love driving her even more now!.![]()

That and i hate the noise slotted/drilled rotors make when you get on the brakes hard.
-
Haha yeah, they do sound a bit like the old baseball card in the bike spokes trick. If you want the full on helicopter sound you can try wave rotors like these. They make a hell of racket lol.

Wish I could afford noisemakers like those! :biggrin5:

I know, Jan and I had them on his race car. I put them on. it sounded like a helicopter landing all the time.
He loved it. -
They look cool but your losing surface area for braking kinda silly I think
-
yeah, they are more often used on rear brakes, drag cars or motorcycles where you don't need max surface area and the weight loss is worth the trade-off

I went for a drive this last weekend and burned them up pretty bad. I honestly don't know how I did it. The road was a nice and slow, uphill/downhill, windy one. So slow that at one point that it got to be an 11% grade on the backside down and I was manually shifting to a lower gear to slow me down. I don't think I got much faster than 40mph.
I was following behind a group of bikers so i was keeping my distance, but I guess that wasn't enough. Once I finally got to a nice straight stretch I pulled over because I kept smelling burnt brakes...sure enough...smoke billowing off the back wheels.
Time for some new brakes!
Thanks again for your recommendation! -

I think you will be happy with them. On those downhill slogs let the gearbox give the brakes a rest. Engine braking helps a lot.
What kind of brake pads are you going with?
