My quoted comments in the other thread. IMO, i think pictures really exaggerate the long nose on the new F56 models.
Like I said, put 4 lights up across that big black strip, but then that will negate all the safety engineering that made that front end what it is!
Did your M/A tel youl to not put your hands on the bonnet and push it down hard to close, you will crush the bonnet.
New owners will have to let the bonnet drop from rather high distance to close it down. Also, the release is a two pull inside release. Not sure I like that.
There is NO outside bonnet release. (Who thought that one up).....
For me, I would own and drive if I was to get another MINI Hatch, for now my 07 R56 is good for a couple more years.

Their just doing to the MINI what they did to BMW cars with the no dipstick thing, and counting on the computer to let you know when your low. Which I think is kinda crazy, as how low does it have to be before you get the warning light!! Plus what about you trying to change your own oil!!! you better know exactly how much you need to put in before you get started. No checking it as you go...

I walked down a line of new MINIs yesterday looking for a new F56, and I almost missed it. I guess it's because the severely protruding proboscis didn't jump out and bite me.
It's not going to win any beauty contests, but it's not as severe looking in person as it is in pictures, where shadowing tends to overemphasize every line and shape.

Jim I believe the start-stop is standard, but I'm not positive. It can be turned off. It is pretty seamless in its operation. Just a bit of engine shudder when restarting. I got used to it in 10 minutes behind the wheel.
As far as power & torque go, it is much faster than our R55 Cooper, much faster. I attribute that to a couple of things. The automagic in the F56 shifted much better than the one in our R55 & the engine has more power plus a turbo.
I felt the engine was tuned for low end mid range real world driving rather than top end. Sorry I didn't take it out on the highway, just back roads.
I enjoyed the drive of the Cooper. If it was only about the drive I'd buy the Cooper. As you know there are other aspects of the MINI that will keep me from buying one.-

Interior is nicer and the power band is crisp. Again, it's the different look of the front bumper and rear taillights that would keep me from buying one. That being said, I think the 3rd Gen MINI will outsell all other generations to date. Enthusiasts like us won't be buying them but the mainstream public will like it. GP1 for me!
