My quoted comments in the other thread. IMO, i think pictures really exaggerate the long nose on the new F56 models. Like I said, put 4 lights up across that big black strip, but then that will negate all the safety engineering that made that front end what it is! Did your M/A tel youl to not put your hands on the bonnet and push it down hard to close, you will crush the bonnet. New owners will have to let the bonnet drop from rather high distance to close it down. Also, the release is a two pull inside release. Not sure I like that. There is NO outside bonnet release. (Who thought that one up)..... For me, I would own and drive if I was to get another MINI Hatch, for now my 07 R56 is good for a couple more years. Don
I wonder if there is anything preventing a potential Darwin Award winner from giving the release two quick pulls while traveling down the freeway at 70 mph? Something to try on your next test drive (at 10 mph)...
Yes the MA told me about hand dents in the bonnet. I told him how all old MBGs had palm sized dents on their aluminium bonnets. He's a young guy so MGB didn't ring a bell for him. Wonder how many warranty claims for dents MINI will get? The 2 pull to open the bonnet is an odd one for sure. As is no dipstick. Adding 4 big lights up front isn't going to disguise that bumper-car schnozzola. In fact it may very well draw folks attention to it. Yep in pictures the nose looks bigger & in person it really does too. Not sure what is worse the big extended bumper-car nose or the giant taillights. Lots of stuff I didn't like, but the drive I did like. Don many like yourself will buy & enjoy them. It is still a MINI just a homely one. Things change life goes on & so it goes..... :deadhorse:
Trust me, the big schnoz is just as big in person as it appears in Crashton's pics! And that stupid black plastic thing under the front grill is really pathetic and makes the car appear less MINI than ever...but then, isn't THAT what BMW REALLY wants?
Didn't do so well on Top Gear. So up by 1/2., or even, if you give Crashton full credit. I do. I dunno, I love have my handprints all over bonnets, just not MINI bonnets. We should start a poll for when the first "I dented my bonnet by shutting it" thread appears.
Well, everyone complained about not being able to read it and wanting an after market one, so MINI listened to ya and got rid of it.:lol:
Not me I stuck with the tried & true oem one. Maybe Craven will come out with a dipstick retrofit kit. BMW/MINI probably figured most customers don't bother opening their bonnet & pulling the dipstick anyway. Before long hoods on cars will be sealed with a lable on it that reads (NO USER SERVICEABLE PARTS INSIDE call 1-800 Break My Wallet to schedule a tow):frown2:
And it could always read "a quart low", so you can open the imaginary filler cap and pour in some pretend oil.
Their just doing to the MINI what they did to BMW cars with the no dipstick thing, and counting on the computer to let you know when your low. Which I think is kinda crazy, as how low does it have to be before you get the warning light!! Plus what about you trying to change your own oil!!! you better know exactly how much you need to put in before you get started. No checking it as you go...
Short rant! I'm sick of stupid people that won't check their oil. Then blame others "well I don't know how". That's where this comes from. End of rant! For now
No oil dip stick is just stupid. :mad2: if a person can not change a flat or even check the oil you should not be able to drive. Damn people are lazy. How long before we have an App that tells you your low on oil and you need to come to the dealership to add a $20.00 Quart?
When they come out with an autonomous car it will drive itself to service & hit your charge card without any input from you. No muss no fuss. :nonod: Hope it can be programmed to stop for coffee & dounts on the way. :donut1:
