This is the scanner I have.

it reads all the codes. You cane even look at each wheel sensor as you drive the car.

could be dirt between hub and sensors. Takes a 10 mm wrench to pull them out, clean the tip, and then you can use a bunch of Q-tips inside the hole of the sensor to clean the hub surface where it meets the sensor (rotate wheel while putting pressure on the alcohol soaked Q-tip). I just removed my hubs entirely while doing the R56 aluminum trailing arm conversion and those magnetic (?) hub surfaces and sensor tips were caked with some tough black gunk. I never had DSC light issues, but it can't be a good thing when there is grime accumulating where a sensitive device is monitoring wheel speed. My car is generally super clean, but that's a place nobody ever cleans unless you disassemble stuff. 100k miles and the bearings in the rear hubs were also pretty much done.

I agree with Dave about nannies in cars. My MINI didn't have DSC, I used the money it cost to buy the LSD. I'm thinking you may well need to fix your issue. The wheels speed sensors are there for the ABS to work & for me that's a good nanny to have.
Service engine soon. Check what needs to be done by going into the settings. Push the button on the turn signal stalk & go through there. You should find it.-

Does only the DSC light come on?
Or ABS, DSC, & TPM?
Only DSC might be a faulty steering angle sensor. But not sure if the MINIs have one like our BMW brothers.

Turn off DSC, you don’t need that “nanny” feature.

Then it’s fine. I have had my DSC coded off for over 8 years. Yeah the little light is on but, I don’t care.

The only way is to check all the wiring. Make sure the plug is clean and plugged in good. Also make sure none of the wires look like they have been damaged. Parts store readers don’t read the BMW/MINI DSC codes.
