Not only did they not have upgraded injectors but they did not have the CAI either. I would be interested on the software question also,I would hope they at least had a JCW ECU flash.

Only difference between the initial 04 offering and the 05 year and later was the injectors.
All JCW's got different tunes. -
Hrmm. I was looking around at the programming in my Mini today and the only options I had for retrofit were...
retrofit chrono pack
retrofit facelift xenon
retrofit facelift taillights
retrofit rear fog light
sadly nothing for a jcw anything in my dme. I know on the 2nd gen cars we have to get Mini to send us the software and upload it to our programing station. Wonder if the 1st gen is the same. -
My car is so old...
there wasn't even a JCW option! It started being available at the end of CY 2002. And yes, I did have to walk uphill both to and from school....
The early JCW package was a bit of head work, a pulley, and I don't remember if it had a different SC rotor coating from the get go.... That's about it and some badges!

No reason why not.......you probably won't see much, if any, gains tho.

And the JCW option for the S was available starting with the 04 model year. -

You already have the JCW tune on it. All JCW cars, whether dealer or factory, had a JCW specific tune.

Yes professor, Thank you.

Some MINI dealers have been doing this for a while...IF they were liberal, and you had lots of the "upgrades" that a JCW car would have had..even if not JCW parts...
The tune is different....but there is also different software packages depending on WHICH ECU version is on the car....there have been 2 (pre and post 2005) that were different.....similar but still had different programing...and now a 3rd one is appearing on replacements...it appears to be 100% compatible to the 2005+ ones software wise.
I can say I know somebody who had their ECU swapped out...from the 2003 version to the newest one (straight from Germany last week) and his car is like a different beast!!
He was also getting the "boot-leg" JCW flash....this week.
One note...JCW cars that were upgraded to the JCW 210 kit, got a new upgraded tune.
The kit, sold by mini had the JCW injectors, and the JCW air-box...and a "CODE" to use to get the all important JCW software...the installer would type it in...and the code was the "authorization" to do the flash.
I've been told the JCW tune is not great (but better than stock), but with custom tunes being so common, I would not spend much $$ on getting a JCW tune on a non-jcw car...
But if you have a "friend" who know how to work the MINI computer system for a 6 pack.... -
I know Mini had said the later computers had more power to monitor things, and make adjustments, and that was Part of the reason of the HP change in 05...along with the coated SC....The gearing change did improve the 0-60 times, but did not affect the HP.
Turns out his 03 is on it's 3rd computer (according to the mini computer system)...one was changed underwarrenty in early 05 (got the older style unit), and the now this one.
Interestingly enough the new unit externally looks very different...it appears to be much better built to withstand the heat, vibration, and moisture of where it lives....if you look at the early computers, they are kinda bare and open...the news ones have no circuit boards exposed, and are better sealed to prevent moisture issues.
This owner had previously tried to get the JCW flash upgrade....and he was told it might not be a good idea on the older computer...they gave him a couple page of printouts about stuff...
But now with the newer computer....they are doing it no problem....Heck with mods, I think they even recommended it....(love it when they whisper in your ear....:aureola. But once out of warranty.....what do they have to loose?
