This compounded with the engine rocking back and forth as you accelerate and decelerate. The engine rocking also stretches on the shift cables and can make shifting even harder when your getting on the power. WMW has found installing bushings in the gaps of the stock engine mounts the most cost effective way to reduce the engine rock without making them so solid the whole car shakes apart. This is a no brainer first mod for any MINI owner, and simple enough you can do it yourself.
