    We lost another one, I'm sure some of the WRC shoes of today might just

    think of him as an old guy who raced SAABS but I believe others in that

    group realize just how great he was.

    When you grow up in Sweden, you're either a Volvo family or a SAAB family. Those of us who were SAAB families (a waning minority) had a few things to hold on to as the reason for our loyalty, and PÃ¥ Taket was one of them. One day I'm going to convert my dad's 96 into a Carlsson rally replica.

    We loved our 1967 SAAB 96, 3 cylinders of 2 stroke fun.:D It's a very fond memory. A real shame it rusted to dust for us. We were too busy rallying & racing to give it the attention it deserved. :(

    A classmate at university had a Saab 96. He had a Turbonique gas turbine driving the back wheels, but drove it mostly on the 3 banger two stroke in front.

    He would pick up money drag racing on the street, it was a crazy fast sleeper.

    Carlsson isn't the only driver in here but it's still worthy. Also, don't be confused if you don't hear sound right away, it's here and there, not at the start.

    That's too bad. I had the pleasure of meeting and talking to Mr. Carlsson at Pikes Peak back in 2000. Quite a guy.

    Are you going to replace the axle keys with cut nails so they don't shear off, like someone I know did?:lol: He used to shear them off when trying to do burn outs in the 60's. I have been on some pretty scary rides in a 96.

    I had two 96's, the first one was a dark green 1969 standard and the second

    (my favorite til I totaled it) was a 1968 Deluxe in light blue. Oh well!
