A refreshing summertime drink I concocted several years ago.
In a tall glass, a healthy shot of Aalborg akvavit over crushed ice, a dash of lime, top off with club soda and stir briskly. If you can get frost to form on the glass even better. That and a spot in the shade with a broad vista over a sparkling lake doesn't get much better.

Store the akvavit in the freezer.

Hope you like it. I'll await your evaluation.

Only thing is, that aquavit is available spiced it many different ways. Hope it doesn't make any difference as both of yours are intriguing. The only one available in these parts is this one.

Can't beat Maker's by much. Are you familiar with Bulleit bourbon and/or rye? Got both including the newly released 10 y/o Bulleit.

    My favorite rum is Pusser's

    Pusser's Rum

For a long time, they didn't sell it in Washington State, so I had to special order it by the case. Now whenever relatives visit from Oregon they bring me a bottle.

Interestingly though, when we went to the UK a couple of months ago we checked customs list. Absinthe, green fairy, and items with psychedelic images are still banned from bringing back in your luggage.

I've never had absinthe in any form. If I were to go grab a bottle to try, what should I look for?

I drink this on occasion which my wife joked would be banned due to the psychedelic images...

I took another tack in the search and believe I found a source.

There is about 4 oz. left in a bottle of Hiram Walker Kümmel that I saved from my dad's liquor cabinet a few years ago. It is very nice in a cup of coffee or tea. I have searched the internet and cannot find it. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Hiram Walker is a supplier of relatively cheap flavored liquors. I ran 'Kummel' through the search engine of Astor Wines and Spirits (my favorite NYC liquor store that carries all sorts of obscure spirits and ships to most states) and found 2 for you... probably much better quality than the HW! :cornut:

Many thanks for your effort. I finally did locate the French label at a similar NY outlet but not the German. I think I'll go with the latter as it is a little less and being German is adjacent to it's home range of Holland.
