The Akrapovic systems look to be good quality and aren't too loud imo.

Here we are:

Do you get a droning sound around 2500 rpm? (60-65mph).

I do.

 

I checked out that muffler and it looks like it might be "approved" for the N14 engine. "EC Type Approval is valid for engine type N14B16A "

I am sure it will fit the N-18, which is the Cooper "S" engine from 2011+

 

There is no differences in the 2011 that prevent any of the exhausts that fit any other R56 from fitting them.

We keep most in stock, the Akrapovic is the top of the line. I've put two of these on 2011+ MINI's

 

Haven't noticed that with mine. Pulling hard the exhaust makes more noise...like in crossing mountain passes, but really I don't think the interior db's are that much higher than stock. I wouldn't go back......

No question the system may be too loud for some and more likely, too quiet for others. I read lots of reviews between the lines...

Sorry for going on here and I'm sorry you have a drone issue. I'd be sorely disappointed..

I will put the Milltek back on once I insulate the MINI with Dynamat. The fit of the Milltek was poor in my estimation so I made it straight, just like the OEM and welded the whole rig up into a single pipe like OEM.

:cornut: Yeah, a good system is 50% of the story and good professional installation is the other 50%. We have Miniacs around here that can do an excellent install but me, being mechanically challenged and with no tools to speak of, I go to a pro or to a Metroplex Mini/Mini of Dallas DIY day.

Whatever exhaust you choose look closely at your OEM exhaust first and see if it is straight through or has side to side offsets in it between the front and rear hanger. My OEM was straight as an arrow as far as side to side deviation from the first hanger all the way through the muffler. After having the Milltek modified it too is straight through.

 

If you decide to go with this exhaust system, please do update us with your findings. I must admit that the pricing is attractive.

 

Wonder what ever happened to this update.

 

I can say that the Milltek has mellowed a bit with age, but I still need to insulate the MINI for sound deadening.

I do however like the throttle response with the exhaust and the FMIC!!
