Sully, I cannot BELIEVE you are not a Milltek man. They are THE best of the best. The one I have on my '06 S has been there since '06...still burbles juuuuuust right!

Borla here. I feel it’s one of the best for power gain(though an exhaust can only do so much) and sounds great! Have had many positive comments on how good my R50 sounds.

Lol - I've used different exhaust on different vehicles. Never used a Milltek yet.. but looking into them now. Looks like they have the option of with resonator or without... anybody heard one without a resonator?

@Goldsmithy - thanks for the link.
@Dave.0 - Funny, first thing I after looking at the ECS, what check out outmotoring and detroit tuned.
@colinmini - I used a borla exhaust on one of my BMW's, sounded good. Frankly the exhaust sound I liked the most was the Remus exhaust I had on my Corrado VR6.. yummy.

Funny, Aaron and I were having that discussion yesterday regarding the overall market.

Your exhaust system is going to reduce the noise your specific engine makes. The same system will sound different depending on the significant engine mods installed --- turbo, head, cams, pistons, tune, etc. I've heard cars with very popular exhaust systems and virtually no other engine mods --- they sounded like sewing machines! About 8 years ago, I bought a 3" Alta catless and added about an 18" resonator, to keep the noise to a minimum --- it's supposed to be a "sleeper" and not attract a lot of attention. Definitely not a sewing machine, and doesn't sound like a 1.6L 4 cyl either, 'specially when I get on it.

If you can find a car with the same significant mod package as yours, and you like their sound, get that system. Finding one via a forum isn't likely to be satisfying. Hang out at your local dealer's service dept, or check with your local Mini club --- get "up close and personal" with one.

After all that, be advised that I have one completely dead ear and the other has a hearing aid that is just that --- an aid. Too much time at the shooting range without hearing protection.

Have you asked Chad? I am sure his guys know how to fit a Milltek correctly without any issues. Some times DIY’s do not give the best advice.

Sure looks like it --- 3" all the way. Back in 2011, Turbo Kits got their materials from ATP Turbo. Also, my buy was before the GTX ~ it included a GT28RS. Current version is a much better turbo. Note --- their claim of 450HP must be in BHP, not WHP. Even the GTX can't provide the boost continuously thru the RPM max. Garrett catalog also limits HP claims to about 350 or so.

Another thought --- when I had my extra resonator added, the shop mentioned they could have done the complete exhaust system for a lot less money than buying a bunch of fancy chromed pipes. Would have fit a lot better too. FYI --- there's a bracket / brace near the muffler that helps contain the system if supporting mechanism fails. This bracket / brace will not accommodate a 3" pipe and must be removed or have spacers added to longer bolts. Hasn't caused any problems in the 8+ years I've been without it. Actually easier to drop the exhaust when pulling the engine. Anyhow, you should consider letting a good, local, muffler shop build a system for you. If you're planning on a 300+WHP build, you should go with the least resistance muffler, and forget what it sounds like --- I can assure you it will be nice and deep sounding.

Yup - AEM intake, strut brace.. and a very 16.4 pound exhaust. Trying to get the baseline Dyno run scheduled next week before I swap it all out. :)

Yea - can't wait. Will take pics and put a full write up / review once I get everything else ready for MOTD (which at this point is a little more important). :D

Just remember it will sound louder than expected when you first put it on since the pipe is clean inside without any carbon buildup. It will tone down and get a deeper sound after a couple hundred miles.

Supersprint has specific design for gp2 that clears diffuser. Both in 60mm and oversized 65mm. I think quality wise you cant beat supersprint. Also those guys dont produce anything if its not gonna benefit the car.

Planning get a full system at the end of september

Before downsizing exhaust diameter, I'd want to see some performance verification, like a dyno chart or two, that 2.5" is better than 3". I like to credit my HP gains, in big part, to my 3" catless exhaust. An engine has to breathe if it's gonna make big power.

So in talking with a few folks, it appears the Milltek exhaust doesn't fit well on the GP2. Also putting it on and getting all the pieces correct is also an issue. Anyone have any experience with that?

One person recommended this the Akrapovic.. its a bit more expensive though. https://www.outmotoring.com/akrapovic-evolution-exhaust-r56-8-s.html
