    "Just for Justa Jim" In my opinion only, I think everyone should "know how to" and be checking their oil at every fill up. If you are low on oil that 93 octane gas is a waste of money. It just like running with low tire pressure.

    People are lazy now and cannot do anything for themselves.

    15k oil change...ok since it's free from the dealership.:Thumbsup::lol:

    It's free at 5000 miles too, if that's all you drive in a year, like I do!

    My opinion based on fact, don't let that oil sit in there for a year, trust me, it's not good.

    I have four other cars and a motorcycle, they need love too!

    They all get oil changes in the spring.

    Post #61. I agree with most of what you have said. But MINIs oil changes are not free. The cost is added to the cost of the car. MINI gives nothing away for free. :nonod:

    I paid for all of it on mine. Got a free MINI hat, but I know I paid for it also. That being said I'd buy my MINI all over again. Alas there are no more new R53 MINIs to be had. I'll have to buy someones garage queen when mine wears out.

    I don't think it will wear out soon, I change the oil a lot. I'm wearing the drain plugs out. On my third one. :)

    Just got my second oil analysis back from Blackstone. The results look pretty good. I decided over 10 years ago to follow the OBC oil change interval since I drive a lot, and didn't necesilary want to change the oil every six weeks. My previous car was a Honda civic that had a oil change interval of 7500 miles on Dino oil, so 15k on synthetic didn't seem bad to me. I've had both the valve cover off and oil pan, neither had any sign of build up, and looks like new. Most of my oil changes have been between 15,000 and 25,000. I'm happy with the lab results thus far.

    Its my commuter/ play car, so it gets mostly long trips, with episodes of driving like I stole it (mostly on weekends). My daily round trip commute is about 140 miles of 98% highway. But living where I do even a trip to the store to get milk is a 10 mile round trip, so if the car is started it generally gets completely warmed up. If my driving habits were different I would imagine the OBC recommended change interval would be shorter.
