Good catch. Here's another version in a different flavor of money...and Hispania's numbers add up in this one.

Well, there was some discussion of his "maturity" but all I saw was a guy doing the best he could in tricky circumstances and he simply lost it. After that he was just along for the ride till it stopped spinning, absolutely nothing he could do.....

The drive through was BS. That was a pure racing incident. But the kid does seem to "attract" some unusual happenstance. More so then anyone else this year. Not a judgment on my part. The brave and the daring will take more risks.

I think the penalty was just. He put himself in a position that caused him to lose control of his car. No different than if he had dive bombed down the inside and took JB out that way instead. He tried to out brake JB and lost it. He caused the contact. And he was able to drive away from it.

I agree completely. It was obvious that Vettel was seeing the "red mist", and was driving out of desperation... His car was unstable when he made his final move, and lost it... A drive-through is minor, compared to Button getting knocked out of the race.

I like Vettel a lot, and was really disappointed to see him losing it like that. I think he's a much better racer than Webber, and have been hoping for better luck for him, but in this instance, I think he deserved the penalty.

I'm baffled by Hamilton's performance this weekend... Does anyone think there's any truth to Bob Varsha's comments on SPEED about the sound of Ham's engine?

PS: And no, I don't want o talk about Alonso. That hurt.

I missed it. Busy elsewhere and set the DVR wrong. :mad5:

Well, that's only mostly true as I came in and flipped it on to see the last couple laps and I did notice the engine sounding odd. I missed the comments...what's the speculation?

Scuttlebutt on the odd exhaust note is that it has something to do with the outlet design and the diffuser. Machett is going to look into it more.

If he's not careful, Vettel will inherit Massa's old role as the current mistake-prone front runner.

I just read an article that says Massa jumped the start at Spa but wasn't penalized. Did anyone notice that?

Massa had head-start on Belgian GP grid (motorsport.com/gmm)

Oops, I misinterpreted, they're not talking about a jump start but where he lined relative to his box on the grid.

Every time I read an article like that these days I look for clues about the level of FIA involvement. I remember reading last year about something "the teams" were discussing and Bernie saying something like "FOTA can discuss all they like but they are not the FIA and will not dictate change." Hmmm, I think it was Bernie...sounds like something Bernie would say...or Max Mosley...

I only mention it because of that first line "Formula 1 teams are closing in on finalizing all-new regulations ..." Reading on though it seems to be not just the teams, plus that engines/turbos biz matches what I've been reading for months. The surprise (to me anyway) is the mention of ground effects.
