Bridgestone is now done with F1. The young driver tests concluded today and that was apparently the last event to be supplied by Bridgestone. I guess this means every test, etc, from here on out will be run on the new Pirelli rubber? I wonder how soon they're allowed to start track testing the 2011 cars.

BTW did you see that young Australian Daniel Ricciardo beat Vettel's pole time from last Saturday by 1.3 seconds in Webber's RE30? -

Yep, pretty impressive. Of course the article I read mentioned that Vettel set his time with much less F1 rubber on the track than there was by the time the young driver test started. Was that worth 1.3 seconds? Don't care, it's still extremely impressive.

All 12 Formula One teams are back at the Yas Marina circuit in Abu Dhabi for their first tests with Pirelli, the new tire supplier for the 2011 season.
Ferrari's Felipe Massa posted a lap of 1 minute, 40.170 seconds, making him the quickest during Friday's test. Massa's lap was 0.032 second quicker then his qualifying lap for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix last weekend, in which he started sixth.
World champion Sebastian Vettel was second-quickest with a lap of 1 minute, 40.5 seconds, more than 1 second slower than his pole-position lap.
McLaren test driver Gary Paffet was third-quickest with a lap of 1 minute, 40.874 seconds. BMW Sauber driver Kamui Kobayashi and Renault's Robert Kubica rounded out the top five.
"It's always interesting to test new tires, and today was our first chance to try the new Pirellis and work with the new tire engineers," said Kubica. "We all know how important the tires are for the behavior of the car, and so we concentrated on evaluating both compounds and understanding as much as we could about the tire characteristics."
Renault's chief engineer, Alan Permane, said: "Our initial impression of the tires has been positive. They were working well with good grip and no warm-up issues."
The teams are testing Pirelli's soft and medium tire compounds. Each team has been given eight sets to use for the two-day test.
Pirelli has been testing its new tires through out the summer using a 2009 Toyota TF109 chassis driven by Nick Heidfeld, Romain Grosjean and Pedro de la Rosa. The tiremaker tested at Mugello, Monza, Barcelona, Valencia, Jerez and Le Castellet.
There will be four more tests before the start of the 2011 season in Bahrain, March 11-13.

I wonder how valid the results will be given that the cars will be completely different next year?
I guess they have to start somewhere....
Funny, an Italian car running Italian tires is quickest! Where are all the conspiracy theorists? -

I'm going to start a 2011 thread since the 2010 season is over. Nothing says we can't still discuss 2010 stuff here -- thread will remain open -- but folks are starting to focus now on 2011 drivers and other issues.
This should (nearly) finish off the 2010 season thread:

I esp. like the way every report includes his earlier quote when he trivialized the attacks on Button and others in Brazil:
