I guess the reports that Webber came through his little Valencia incident in fine shape are spot on. Here he is doing a bit of typical Red Bull outlandish promo in London this morning. Wow just back from Montreal, well not really...yeah we got really lost in the adirondacks, the hudson river valley, the catskills and then missed the Dunder-Mifflin tour in Scranton...but glad to be home. ...who won Valencia, what...Vettel? mine pics from the live show...what a view, eh?
stand 24, section 7, row V...it's also an excellent view of unbelievable braking followed by incredible acceleration for the straight that leads back to start/finish and with the jumbo screen we see everything you see at home including sector times, replays, pit action and Megan Fox saying "wooduntyou?'" to Josh Brolin in both french and english all weekend.
Now this is my kind of F1-related news: di Resta unveils whisky blend ahead of UK return (crash.net) ...just the last (and relevant) part of the article:
How come so many Scotsmen have Italian sounding names? Franchitti, diResta, etc......left over from the Roman invasions?
Every country has had it's problems with illegal aliens at one time or the other..... Sent from my Droid using Tapatalk
A new U.S.-based outfit called Cypher Group claims that it wants to enter Formula One in 2011, with 22-year-old American driver Jonathan Summerton behind the wheel. Few details have emerged about the company and who is behind this effort, but it is believed that some former employees of the failed U.S. F1 team might be involved. The effort is not thought to include Parris Mullins, the right-hand man of YouTube cofounder Chad Hurley who was involved deeply with U.S. F1. A statement issued with a North Carolina location attached to it said: "To the delight of American and international motorsport fans, Cypher Group and American driver Jonathan Summerton announced . . . that they will be potentially collaborating together during the next few Formula One seasons. "We have officially submitted our candidature and hope that we will shortly be selected by the FIA as the 13th entry in the 2011 FIA Formula One World Championship," said a Cypher team spokesperson. "We aspire to bring America's red, white, and blue back into Formula One. "Jonathan Summerton has already proved his speed and ability to race in both the F3 Euro Series and A1GP, winning against current F1 drivers like Sebastian Vettel, Kamui Kobayashi, Sébastien Buemi, Kazuki Nakajima, Adam Carroll and Romain Grosjean. "He is the only American to have won an A1GP race from all the American drivers who have competed in the series, including Marco Andretti, Buddy Rice, Ryan Hunter-Reay, and Scott Speed. "Jonathan is capable of racing against the top Formula One drivers and we hope to be able to give him a competitive car. We look forward to the opportunity of being on the starting grid in 2011." Cypher is targeting the 13th entry spot on the F1 grid that became available after U.S. F1's failure. Other teams who desire to land the slot in 2011 include Durango, Stefan GP and Epsilon Euskadi. The team's Web site contains little background or information on the specifics of its partners or employees. A statement on the site reads: "Cypher Group consists of experienced F1 engineers, designers and businessmen [who are] experienced in large-scale public- and private-sector finance, project and business management, whose objective is to create a successful U.S.-based F1 team. "Cypher recognizes the significant challenges associated with building an F1 program in such a short timeline, and in order to set the best possible foundations and gain maximum efficiency from the limited timeframe, Cypher's strategy is to utilize 'best of breed' components throughout the car. This strategy maximizes performance and reliability which in turn enables us to create the infrastructures and systems required to build, maintain and develop the team for the future. In support of this strategy, Cypher is in contact with established manufacturers of Formula One racing cars and components. "Our aims are ultimately to be competitive and provide unrivaled access and interaction for our supporters whilst maintaining high standards of integrity and values, alongside creative out of the box thinking. "At this point, we would like iterate that we will only place an entry to compete in the 2011 F1 World Championship should we fully achieve the budget we believe is necessary to do this properly. We are not in this to embarrass America, the fans or ourselves. We simply want to give America the shot it deserves." Read more: New American group targets Formula One entry in 2011
Yeah, it's odd but there seems to be a particular attraction for Italians to Scotland - approximately 2% of the Scottish population is Italian. A significant number of Italian prisoners of war were sent to Scotland to work as farm labourers during WWII and quite a few decided not to go home when the war ended. But I think lots more arrived to work in catering. The Scots do like an ice cream and many of them seem to believe that they don't taste right unless sold by an Italian. More info than you really wanted? Andrew

So how does everyone rate Schumacher's comeback so car? Know he's not in a top car right now but his teammate seems faster so far.... Just wonder how long the greatest is going to be happy running back in the pack.... Sent from my Droid using Tapatalk
I think by anyone else's standards he is doing pretty well. Points in all but 3 races so far, etc. With the evolution of the cars since he drove last and the testing ban, I think that's about as well as a reasonably can be expected. Only time will tell.
Wow sounds pretty humblespeak for Michael and I'd bet money that if anyone can do it, he can...... But I must agree with Sir Jackie's rationale that a driver as great and competitive as Schumacher will not play mediocre for very long; one way or the other.... Sent from my Droid using Tapatalk
Been way too long since he's had any success that just find it hard to believe enough serious investers could be found for this to happen... If he wants to resurrect his career he needs to look somewhere else, it will never happen in F1. Sent from my Droid using Tapatalk
I'm not keen on the idea of Villeneuve driving in any series I watch. He can go to CRASHCAR and trade paint with JPM, that works for me. Oh well, from what little I remember of his style I suppose he might be fun to watch for a while...maybe. Based on other speculation I've read like that article above "Villeneuve Racing" is sufficiently clearing all the financial guarantee hurdles, etc, to make Bernie, et al, happy. I'd say maybe he's planning to do something other than drive -- owner, management, whatever -- but driving has been the focus of all his comeback attempts to this point... For now though I think we can chalk this up as more silly season fodder...I hope...
