Wow....just tried with my 3rd email acct and it worked.
-
Steve AdministratorStaff Member Articles ModeratorOutstanding!
I've been thinking this fantasy GP registration biz very nearly rivals the crappiness of Speed's TV program schedule the way it worked (or, rather, didn't work) a few years ago.
Good to see you're finally in...or is that premature? Looks like you finally got an activation code...have you managed to actually get through to the game area yet? -

Yep....got my team and everything. But I messed up on the team name, I sent in a request for the spelling to be corrected. It should show up as "The Whining Team"

Awesome! Between the two of us, we've got the novelty angle covered!

Question for Jerry or anyone else who can chime in.
The way I'm reading the rules, looks like the drivers can score points in both quali and race but constructors and engines get points for race only...yes? -
Steve AdministratorStaff Member Articles ModeratorWelcome! I put you on the list (post 1).
The count is up to 8. -
goaljnky New MemberI'll check when sober. Add my wife to the list, if you don't mind.
-
Steve AdministratorStaff Member Articles ModeratorYep, I guess I skipped over the line with the completely obvious answer and was trying to figure it out reading the rest of the scoring rules. Here is the pertinent text (duh):

Cool, we also have another team member, Little Egg, also known as Mrs. Goaljnky. Brings us to 9 so far.

The testing is done and it's about 10 days to the first practice session at Melbourne. I'm not sure any of the teams have really shown their hand yet so it probably didn't do me much good to wait for the testing to end. I think I learned more of value studying Speed's rules for scoring points and how that affects the value of the different components, i.e., drivers v constructors v engine.
Time to get in there and set up my team.
Anyone else interested in joining us? There's still plenty of time. -

I think all but one of us has picked team components. Interesting how they strategically allocated values to force compromises.
Remember, the transfer amnesty lasts until 13:00 EST 25 Mar, so shuffle at will until then. That's when the normal 3-transfers per race period begins for the 27 Mar race. Here are the pertinent rules [with a few adjustments I think make them a bit more clear for the opening round]:
Also, I guess in keeping with the separate scoring for qualifying and the race, there are 2 transfer period deadlines per race weekend:
However, though there are 2 deadlines within the transfer period, it's still considered a single period and you're still limited to those 3 transfers TOTAL; it's not 3 for the quali deadline and 3 more for the race deadline. Presumably, any changes you make even a minute after the quali deadline will apply only to your race result score. -

Yeah. It was a hard compromise but I hope my strategy pays off.

Pick your team and stick with it. It's all in fun anyway...
-
Steve AdministratorStaff Member Articles ModeratorDefine fun.

Yep, all fun. To me that includes fiddling incessantly (needlessly?). Different strokes.
