Tires
There were 42 pit stops for tire changes during the race. The first was on lap 11 and the last on lap 48. That's 42 stops for tires in 38 laps which is a lot, but it's still less than predicted. This is partly due to Maldonado never getting the chance to stop and 3 drivers only pitting once before dropping out, but even taking those guys out it's still less stops than predicted per car.
A number of drivers and others commented on how they expected more tire degradation and they couldn't figure out what happened. Trulli was especially critical. I know, he drives a Lotus and finished 2 laps down so he needs every excuse he can get, right? Ok, that's where the few exaggerated lines come from but there may be some quite valid roots to some of this:

It was a lot of stops though. Delete the 4 drivers who dropped out early on and it comes to 38 tire stops in 38 laps. I agree with those who predicted a bit of confusion for spectators. There were quite a few times when I couldn't figure out who was where and why, and I had the on-screen info to help. I can't imagine being able to keep up with the order while watching from the stands. -

Yep, I saw her looking at a red car and was about to call her out as a Ferrari fan (a Tifosi). Then I thought "wait a minute, that doesn't look like a Ferrari..." so I looked a little closer and I think it's one of Ganassi's cars.

I've never seen a dog watch TV like she does....
When we first got her it was anything with 4 legs that caught her attention, now she watches pretty much anything, but 4 legged creatures (animated or real, doesn't matter) and cars are her favorites, She likes to get right up to the TV for a good close look, like in the puppy bowl pic. She'll watch for hours, but if she hears a baby animal mewing or crying she gets a little frantic, wanting to get to it.. -

All my dog does is snatch the nuts that I drop and tries to drink my beer.

I can't believe no one mentioned this in commentary before/during the race.

Hey Steve you figure they used some super special F1 duct tape for that job? That is an amazing story.

That was pretty good, but you'd have to know the drivers to understand it.
Why was Mika sending Red Bull, he never drove for them, did he? -

I see. They are having a problem getting an F1 race in US, so instead they will just try to bring over the drivers. One at a time.

Mr. Button makes a good point. Imagine how the McLarens would have run if they actually started the season in Bahrain...

I was sorry to see Sauber decided not to appeal their Melbourne disqualification. Don't know if it would have been successful but it seems like they had some hope given the idea (or claim anyway) that it had no positive affect on performance. It is a classy move though to just say we checked it out and it breaks the regs so we were wrong and we'll suck it up. I doubt any other team on the grid would have dropped the appeal.
