How Button lost his mirror:

Senna qualified well, but showed his inexperience in the first corner....hope he gets better. Of course, if Heidfeld wins his court case it all could be for naught. But I think even if Quick Nick wins, a judicious amount of money will change hands and it will all go away.....along with Nick.
However, there's Romain Grosjean in the wings with a fresh GP2 title under his belt too, and already under contract to Renault......erm Lotus..........erm, whatever they'll be calling themselves next year.
Great drives by both Michael Schumacher, Jensen Button and even Mock Webba after his horrendous start. What is it with Webbo and these bad starts? His car is exactly the same ae Vettel's, and Seb doesn't have these problems.....
Great race! Lots of passing and repassing thruout, tire problems galore and no weather intrusion - terrific weekend! -
Senna's prospects didn't last but till the very first turn......
Also can't figure what the deal is with Webber's starts, he had the RPMs but the car bogged down...too little throttle in fear of wheel spin?
Have to admit Button had a great race considering; and it was so good to see a bit of the young Schumacher shining through. I would so love to see his final retirement be on an up note....
But in the end it twas Seb and Red Bull atop the podium....still the team to beat and with the showing Alonso had, me thinks the Scudaria still has a ways to go to catch them.....

I'm surprised I haven't heard anything about Hamilton's condition when he crashed out. He got out under his own power but he was clearly out for a bit in the car, not even moving. Seems like he should be in for a few medical tests at least to be sure he doesn't have a concussion.

Speculation, but I think he was gobsmacked that he took himself out & just sat there soaking it all in. From where I sat Kobie did nothing wrong.
I'm certain he will have his head looked at, first by the doctors & next by the team. -

If you watch the in-car when it happened, Hamilton made no steering input at all.
And you can see from the down track camera that the distance from the white fog line to Kobie's car actually increases as Kobie goes down the track. -

There's nothing sensational in here, I just tend to enjoy Mark Webber's comments when he's not in one of his he-man, macho driver moods.

ScottinBend Space CowboySupporting MemberWow.....and from his in car camera it didn't appear he made any steering input at all.
Must have still been a bit "dizzy" from the off............

Steve AdministratorStaff Member Articles ModeratorI didn't pay attention to Hamilton's onboard but just watching the view from the corner as the two approached I'd say you're right. Hamilton kept a straight line toward his turning point but Kobayashi was in the way. He complained about his McLaren being down on straight line speed relative to others and I think this was one of the times it caught him out. I guess Hamilton thought he'd fully passed Kobayashi on the straight leading to the corner so didn't need to worry about someone else being on his line and didn't see him...maybe didn't even look?

Hey, they left a few words - Here is the complete quote:
"Obviously, my attitude might have been a bit different with someone else, let's say like my teammate, but, in the end, it worked out for me today but, in Monza, maybe it's his turn to do it to me." -

I just watched that again (and again), and Hamilton was holding his line after a solid pass, looking into the apex. Kobayashi took the turn on the outside, trusting his own idea (not a good strategy) of what Hamilton was going to do. He should have held his position and tried to pass after the chicane. IMO
I cry shenanigans. :mad5:

Dang.....how did I miss that video of Button loosing his mirror!
All I could think of after watching it was Massa..........:eek6: -
Steve AdministratorStaff Member Articles ModeratorI had similar thoughts. I guess that was part of Senna's front wing. The video I linked to is gone, here's another. Be patient, the Button part is last but there's a bit more video and it's worth a watch IMO.
