There's nothing sensational in here, I just tend to enjoy Mark Webber's comments when he's not in one of his he-man, macho driver moods. Webber: Alonso pass would have been different with others (crash.net)
Wow.....and from his in car camera it didn't appear he made any steering input at all. Must have still been a bit "dizzy" from the off............
I didn't pay attention to Hamilton's onboard but just watching the view from the corner as the two approached I'd say you're right. Hamilton kept a straight line toward his turning point but Kobayashi was in the way. He complained about his McLaren being down on straight line speed relative to others and I think this was one of the times it caught him out. I guess Hamilton thought he'd fully passed Kobayashi on the straight leading to the corner so didn't need to worry about someone else being on his line and didn't see him...maybe didn't even look?
Hey, they left a few words - Here is the complete quote: "Obviously, my attitude might have been a bit different with someone else, let's say like my teammate, but, in the end, it worked out for me today but, in Monza, maybe it's his turn to do it to me."

I just watched that again (and again), and Hamilton was holding his line after a solid pass, looking into the apex. Kobayashi took the turn on the outside, trusting his own idea (not a good strategy) of what Hamilton was going to do. He should have held his position and tried to pass after the chicane. IMO I cry shenanigans. :mad5: {/Armchair Ref}
Dang.....how did I miss that video of Button loosing his mirror! All I could think of after watching it was Massa..........:eek6:
I had similar thoughts. I guess that was part of Senna's front wing. The video I linked to is gone, here's another. Be patient, the Button part is last but there's a bit more video and it's worth a watch IMO. Heidfeld is suing Renault for booting him for Senna and Grosjean won his series (GP2?) so he has a shot as well...and they're all hoping to inherit the seat Kubica still plans to occupy next season. Kubica To Test Toyota’s Driver Simulator? (formula-one.speedtv.com)
Nobody has commented on the Hamster's remarks to Will Buxton in the post crash interview, the thing he said (that I could not believe in this day of sanitized "it's all for the team" quotes) .... when asked by Will how his crashing out would affect his championship he said something to the effect of "we never had a shot at the championship"
I missed it. I tune out Buxton, plus post-retirement interviews are usually fueled by frustration and I have no interest in that crap. I'm sure Hamilton and his team boss had another chat afterward, esp. since Whitmarsh continues to talk about how they can still win and aren't giving up.
Someone other than Vettel could win the drivers' championship but unless something changes the only way anyone else really stands a chance is if he's injured before the next race finishes and can't drive again this season. If he drops out, Webber is second. I was thinking this afternoon that the race is still close.....for 2nd. 1 -- Vettel -- 259 points 2 -- Webber -- 167 3 -- Alonso -- 157 4 -- Button -- 149 5 -- Hamilton -- 146 6 -- Massa -- 74 7 -- Rosberg -- 56 8 -- Schumacher -- 42 9 -- Petrov -- 34 10 -- Heidfeld -- 34
It also seems that Quick Nick, who did not race last time around is still tied for points with his team mate? Ah, the mysterious logical thinking of F1 teams.
Even better, they're only tied because Petrov scored 2 points in Belgium.....which means they fired their leading driver. Petrov brought money with him (and a sponsor?) and Senna brought two new sponsors.
Ha! Just as I suspected..... Renault confirms Senna as Heidfeld accepts settlement Renault F1 has announced that they have officially split with Nick Heidfeld, and that Bruno Senna will drive for the team for the remainder of the season. Heidfeld was dropped by the team before the Belgian Grand Prix, but maintained that his contract was still valid. The German driver threatened to take the team to court later this month in order to get his race drive back, but a deal has now been reached with Heidfeld to part ways with the team. Rest of the article here.....wonder how much $$$ it took to void his contract? F1 News > Renault confirms Senna as Heidfeld accepts settlement
