Well, I got up early to watch Friday morning practice and was mystified to not find it among my recordings on the DVR......till I finally got woke up enough to remember it's at "normal" times for this race.......well, normal for us anyway!

Also, Speed doesn't get to carry the NA races, the Canadian GP will be on Fox - so don't miss it.

Oh, and good ol JV, never afraid to speak his mind!

I didn't think about that. The first practice session was live on Speed.com and they're showing P2 live today (2pm Eastern) and quali live tomorrow (1pm Eastern) on Speed.

Halfway through P2 and Button still hasn't come out. Gearbox was changed after P1 for an oil leak, but the problem remains so they're doing it again.

Not a good start to the weekend for Button, methinks.

Senna just hit the wall, hard. Looks like he's OK, but the car is pretty smashed up. Right front tyre is held on by the retaining cable, front wing totally gone. rear wing damaged.

Seeing all the spins today, and cars going into the grass, I have to wonder what the condition of the track is. It's not raining yet, so are the drivers pushing harder than usual, or is there something else going on? (the stream I'm watching is not in English - it's here if you want it)

Well, that adds credibility to JV's comments, at least the "grow up" part.

Don't forget, race is on Fox today with the pregame show on Speed.

    Yeah, that makes sense..

My link in my last post above will probably have either the BBC feed or Sky. I won't be able to watch live, alas.

I was a bit sad to see Alonso's race fall apart at the end. That sort of thing used to happen occasionally in closing moments when an engine might go catastrophic but that's almost a thing of the past. Now Alonso knows what Raikkonen felt like when he was passed by everyone at the end of that race (whichever it was) earlier in the season.

    I like Alonso's explanation of the media's post-race hindsight. :biggrin5:

I also like Villeneuve's comments in this snip from a related Reuters article:

Too bad about Shumi's luck though. It's kind of odd they couldn't just swap the whole back wing out to fix his DRS.

I'm happy for the 7 in 7 though. Next race should probably break the trend and we'll start seeing more of a pattern. Exciting end to that race!

Rear wings are apparently much harder to replace then noses, takes minutes rather than seconds. Plus the problem was reported as a hydraulic failure which might mean it wasn't isolated to the wing section.

I agree, sorry to see another reliability issue for Schumacher. I just read Merc are trying to work out whether there's a reason he's had reliability issues but Rosberg hasn't, I'm guessing that means they're comparing the two teams of mechanics/engineers and their processes, etc. I didn't know this but, according to Norbert Haug, Rosberg "has completed every competitive racing lap this season." Means the car itself isn't inherently fragile or unreliable.

Happy to report, that while there were protester and riot police in town at Crescent and Peel streets, there were no issues with either the Metro or the track. Police were out in full force, but it was safe travels the whole time.

Another great race to watch in person. While I don't necessarily agree with the tires falling off by 4 to 5 seconds once they get to an uncertain number of laps... it certainly does make for an exciting race to watch. Alonso was a sitting duck in the closing laps. I was surprised to see Vettel catch up as much as he did with such a late pit. Another couple of laps and he would likely have gotten Perez. All in all a great weekend!

Pretty poor video of Seb doing the proposed NJ track...

There are stretches of the video where is no audio, do not adjust your speakers.

I realize it is a street circuit, but most street circuits are carved out of areas that seem to have fewer homes right along the route. Like that Hummer sitting someones driveway. Talk about some front row seats!

Wouldn't it be cool if they laid the circuit out to pass in front of Satriale's and called it the Soprano GP?
