Yes it is a great track, but it has been pared down quite a bit. I think it's sad, but I guess it was needed.

If you look at the history of races at Spa, it's likely the track will be wet somewhere. I think they have a special rule for Spa that if it doesn't rain, they stop the race on grounds of excessive safety......
^ Yes rain is a most likely occurrence. While they have made the track safer than it was in the old days it is still one that separates the men from the boys. What ever the weather is will be a good race.
Some of us are going to cars shows and have it on the DVR. Please don't forget to put a spoiler alert
I suppose this sort of talk was...inevitable...though "closed cockpit" is probably a misnomer. As Lowe points out, it's an open cockpit formula, they'll no doubt work to protect that while they look for a way to better protect the drivers. Closed cockpits now appear 'inevitable' for Formula 1 in future (AutoSport.com)
I'm not out for blood sport but there becomes a point in all this where it becomes so safe to race that there is no consequence for stupid.
I'd rather be able to quickly egress a burning car, myself. Unless the car has a full eject mechanism, or doors, a closed canopy is tantamount to a death trap. If there's a fire in or near the cockpit, then the driver will have extra effort to get out (difficult since he may be stunned or injured) and the oxygen will be rapidly consumed. I'm sure they're thinking of these things, but I'd hate to see that kind of accident.
