You can say that, but have your seen what Conor Daly did at Monaco this year? Conor was lucky to survive. He was going plenty fast enough to die, yep even at Monaco. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dkSKu7yBCcc[/ame]
Different kind of crash. Indy cars were changed to try and reduce the car to car incidents on ovals. Been a long time since a driver died on a road course. Ovals are the real problem with open wheel racing in regards to vehicle safety.
I wonder if we're not about to see the last of Force India... Arrest warrant issued for Vijay Mallya (GPUpdate.com)
Not an oval in Monaco, but wheel to wheel contact, the same mechanism that caused that huge tragic crash at Vegas. It has been a while, but Jeff Krosnoff died along with an innocent corner worker at Toronto in 2008. Road course have dangers too. Racing is a dangerous sport for sure.
Or in Colin Chapman's words: if the car doesn't fall apart on the cooling-down lap, it was built far too heavily.
Maria de Villota, the driver involved in that Marussia test accident early this July, has been back out in public recently. Here's a quick clip from a press conference. Leave it to an F1 driver to come up with an eye patch that matches the jacket. :biggrin5: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dWnca3ibbEs]Sky Sports Formula 1 2012 - 16 Korean GP - Maria de Villota - Wow I'm alive - YouTube[/ame]
So Korea...meh Spoilers... Seeing the RB team become so dominate again is kinda boring. I know it's a points battle but I do think they should of let Massa play through, he was quicker. Maybe he could of taken some away from Webber.
Massa has always been the #2 driver, and Alonso will not have a teammate who doesn't clearly know his place...... That's why talk of Vettel going to Ferrari in 2014 doesn't make much sense to me, he's too strong a driver to accept #2 status, and Alonso's not going to have it any other way - it will not work, I promise you. Red Bull would be foolish to allow Vettel to go to another team, unless they're just tired of winning. Every year he becomes a better and more complete driver. That's not to say there aren;t other excellent drivers out there, but you have only to look at Opie's teammate to see that he's the top choice, and that takes nothing away from Webba. I haven't watched the race yet so I'll refrain from comments till I do, but my pre-race finish order guess was Vettel, Webbo and then the Hamster.
Yes we know Massa has been a miniature poodle for a long time. This just just adds more evidence to that fact. I'd love to see Seb at Ferrari, man would that be interesting. Vettel does not do team orders. Heck he doesn't listen to his team now.
The astroturf problem is just one sign of the nature of that track. It all looks fairly low rent for an F1 venue. I like the layout though, three clearly different sections make car setup a challenge, etc. On the other hand, I thought it was funny to watch Hamilton driving around with that green stuff flapping in the breeze...made me think of tassels and wonder about the drag effect of same. I enjoyed the race. I seem to be in the minority...must be more easily entertained than others. Matchett spent a lot of time speculating that Hamilton's car might have a suspension problem. Smart guy. Anti-roll bar failure wrecked Hamilton's chances (AutoSport.com)
I didn't find the race boring. There was some good racing going on in the back. The track is a good one, but pit-in & pit-out are terrible.
Overall I enjoyed the race, the duels in the mid pack kept things very interesting. When Vettel's doing his thing, all you can do is watch everyone else. He has a tendency to make things dull up front. Though to be honest he was helped by Nico's car being stopped for nearly a tenth of the race distance in the DRS zone.
How 'bout that? No Hamilton in the latest McLaren Tooned. Episode 8: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GQSk8_Kxz24]McLaren Tooned 8 | Lecture Circuit - YouTube[/ame]
