Great race. It's about time a team said lets run this balls to the wall and stop trying to nurse tires.

Quick note on Tyres - Paul di Resta of Force India did 56 laps on the mediums. By all accounts the decision to move to the Super Softs was his alone.
Look, in my opinion this kind of invalidates all the criticism of the tyres. If a mid-field team can finish 7th on a low-wear track that allows the drivers to push, and they did it with one and only one required pit stop, then the degradation issues are something the other teams are doing wrong. End of story.
The longer this nonsense goes on, the more I think that the bulk of the complaining is being done as a distraction to the fact that some cars are not as strong as the teams think they "should" be. It's all smoke and mirrors, and manufactured drama.
[/rant]
Kimi got 47 laps from his Mediums, Jenson got 42.
As for Mercedes getting a big advantage, Nico Rossberg had 3 stops. The only other driver to have 3 stops was van der Garde. If they'd had such a big advantage, both Nico and Lewis would have been on one-stops like di Resta and Button.
Most of the rest had 2 stops, including Lewis, Seb, and Alonso.
Five drivers had one stop, including Button, Kimi, and Jules Bianchi who got 27 laps from SuperSofts.
This kind of thing happens every season. Drivers and teams cry loudly about some injustice at the beginning, and as the season goes on they learn how to adapt and suddenly we see cars performing better.
The only difference this year is that Pirelli was stupid enough to respond to the theater, instead of just ignoring it, and Mercedes was stupid enough to agree to in-season testing.
(OK, now I'm seriously done with the rant)-

Tire Failures the result of a perfect storm?
A perfect storm of kerb design, track layout, internal shockwaves and low pressures is likely to have caused the British Grand Prix tyre dramas, according to leading Formula 1 engineers.
As Pirelli continues analysis of the remains of the tyre blow-outs at its Milan headquarters, preliminary investigations have pointed towards a combination of factors being to blame.
Much of the focus during the race was on the kerb layout at Silverstone; with drivers being advised to stay clear of them during the race once it emerged that damage was being done to the tyres.
Following feedback from drivers and a first look at the tyres, a closer inspection of the kerbs after the race indicated that there were two areas of the track that were of particular concern.

The summer break ends with a return to Spa is this weekend!
Racer.com posted a bunch of historic pics from the Spa GP. Check out the article here: PERSPECTIVE: Spa's greatest F1 races
And here are a few of their pics for inspiration:
1947 - Achille Varzi leads Jean-Pierre Wimille at start in Alfa 158s. Wimille won.
1955 - Eugenio Castellotti's Lancia D50 beat the MBenzes of Fangio + Moss to pole.
1958 - Tony Brooks won for Vanwall.
1965 - This was Jimmy Clark's last of four straight wins at Spa, in a Lotus 33.
1967 - Of course, had to show it - Dan Gurney's Eagle-Weslake winner.
1968 - 1st win for McLaren, driven by Bruce himself (here chased by Ickx + Courage).
1970 - The winning BRM P153 of Pedro Rodriguez. Final GP at Spa for 13 years.
1983 - Alain Prost's Renault RE40 was first winner on the revised (halved) circuit.
1985- Ayrton Senna's first of five wins at Spa, Lotus-Renault 97T.
...the ’88 McLaren-Honda MP4/4. Senna heading to Spa victory.
1989 - Ayrton Senna McLaren-Honda MP4/5. P1 (of course).
1993 - Prost leads Williams teammate Damon Hill (winner), Senna, Alesi, Suzuki, Warwick.
2002 - 6-time Spa winner Michael Schumacher.
2009 - 4-time Spa winner Kimi Raikkonen's final win for Ferrari…for now ;-)

See, I keep coming back for the drama and the arguments over minutia. I guess some people get their fill of that watching reality TV, or soaps, or somesuch. I get all from following the nonsense between races.
And yes Hamilton is pretty full of himself, but he also wears his heart on his sleeve and doesn't really filter his comments too well. Then the press (which adores him) jumps all over some off hand comment he says and suddenly it's a new controversy. To be honest, they all seem like pretty nice guys in most of the interviews. Seb's only unpopular right now because everyone still remembers the team orders kerfuffle (and forgets that Mark did the same to Seb a few years back). It's all part of the ebb and flow of the crowd.
I wouldn't have it any other way.-

Hulkenberg had a hell of a drive. Some top team needs to adjust the size of their car and get him on board.
I loved Hammy's radio transmission. "Anyone have any suggestions"-

Me thinks Grosjean proved himself very well by keeping his head on his shoulders and standing on the podium next to Kimi and Seb. A win was not there to be had, but had he forced the matter with Kimi and something had happened, he had way more to loose.
My hats off to Grosjean for keeping his cool, something he needs on his resume.....-
