I kind of feel that the BBC news is trying to generate more of a story than is really here by selectively quoting, and speculating.
BBC Sport - Ross Brawn aims to stay at Mercedes despite restructure plans -
Pirelli chairman Marco Tronchetti Provera has praised the company's performances in 2012, saying their tyres did the job of upping the excitement.
Last year seven different drivers won the opening seven grands prix, prompting both praise and criticism for the Pirelli tyres which were deemed to be responsible.
As the season progressed, though, the usual suspects came to the fore with Red Bull and McLaren winning nine of the final ten grands prix.
"I think that we did our job," Tronchetti Provera told Autosport. "We were asked to create more excitement, and more fun.
"At the end of the day the good drivers and good cars prevailed and that means we did a good job.

Do Pirelli make F1 winter tyres?

Well, at least the cars already have dash cams. You know how nutty those Russian drivers can be.

Interesting aero pits on the Lotus. The front wing is really channeling air away from the front tire. The vanes on the inside lower area of the wheel to deal with the tubulance. All the vanes inside of the rear wheels. Then the vents on the back of the rear wing for the double drs.
We'll see if it does them any good. -
Here's a video of the new Lotus, mostly slow beauty shots. Really shows off the nose though, and wastes some time on stickers. At about 3:50 though, it focuses on some asymmetric features on the nose, probably where the pedals are.

I think these early launches are more about stickers and sponsorship than anything else. The official release photos even included some discrepancies, maybe to keep other teams guessing. Here's the best example I can find, compare the intakes.
