Many years ago there was a thought to have a tire that would change as it wore and heat cycled. I remember it being tested by the manufacturer but I can't remember who it was.

Always thought that having three different compounds of tires for every race is a bit ridiculous. Have one tire compound and let the best teams and drivers that adapt to them win, be it 1-2 or 3 sets a race!!!

Desperate times often lead to desperate measures.

Sauber were reportedly without the funds to finish the 2013 season and have been searching for money.

A little extra info on the new engine rules.

They are changing the batteries every race now. So this will make it interesting.

I see Ricciardo will be driving for RB at the Silverstone test. Looks like he's moved into second spot for Webber's seat.

I had to look up "Japan Rags"......as expected it's a clothing manufacturer.

They make those ridiculous jeans with the fake "worn areas" on the fronts of the legs.

Anyone know what #where'sroscoe refers to?

Interesting that he went slower in the RB but I assume it has to do with what was being tested and when.

Horner says they're no longer considering Vergne, it's down to Raikkonen and Ricciardo (if there are others, he's not talking about it).
Here's my question. If RB end up with Vettel and Raikkonen next year, who do you think will win more races?

So, is that a metric f-ton of temp sensors for feedback on the tyre temps, or what else are they measuring? There's a bunch of wires leading to each of the forward facing projections, but they're too small to be infrared cams or something like that.

My guess is they're pressure sensors used to measure airflow over/around the tires.

#where'sroscoe is a bit of a jab at Mercedes from the Lotus boys. Roscoe is Hamilton's bulldog, complete with his own official pit pass and credentials, so since Hamilton and Mercedes were not allowed to take part in the young driver testing, Roscoe wasn't there....

Yep, airflow sensors. There was a video posted late last year from a racecar engineering magazine (?) that showed and explained a lot of what goes on when testing an F1 car.

That was the year I really got into F-1! You could walk right up to the cars in the paddock.

Well that's going to mess with pit times. You get a 2.7 second stop and instead of 19 seconds total, you get 22 or 23. Seb's going to need to widen his gaps a bit more if he doesn't want to get overtaken when getting tire changes.
