Massa's car might not make it to the track during quali. Here's why: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TD5hPxAe0qU]Massa crash Monaco - YouTube[/ame]
Very interesting that Merc get private tire tests and Red Bull doesn't. Now Merc's tires are lasting longer than they have all season. Now Red Bull and Ferrari have posted a protest.
Apparently it was only MB that tire tested for three days, get this, using their 2013 car, a complete violation of the rules. Red Bull and Ferrari have now filed an official complaint. This is how a team with horrid tire wear to this point in the season, can suddenly go from zero to hero in two weeks. If Rosberg wins today it should be thrown out.
Merc is trying to say they that didn't know what tires were being tested. It doesn't matter because they still got an advantage of testing and the ability to change the car based on the tire info. They should be DQed from the race.
...if not from this year's Championship entirely. They still will have the benefit of three extra full days of testing mid season with the the cars they are racing this season. They used both drivers and cars too... They let this slide, it truly is "Circus de Bernie."
This is more blatant than the one tire per race deal they did to stop Ferrari. I would to hate to see Nico have the moment taken away. But is cheating. If they wanted on the up and up. Then should invited everyone, not keep it a secret, and shared the data with all the teams.
Sounds like normal F1 stuff to me. The rules are enforced the way Bernie & the FIA see fit. Lets put lawyers in the cars & have them sue each other to determine the wiener.
Maybe F1 needs to make sure they don't sign agreements that conflict with their own rules. Based on what I've read, sounds like all teams had the opportunity to sign up to be chosen to participate as needed. Doesn't sound like they all did and now are crying foul.
They cannot use this season's cars, had MB used cars from two seasons ago they would have been within the rules as written at the time of the infraction
This testing story will take turn after turn based on differing and opposing perspectives, much of it rooted in sensationalistic speculation, long before the dust clears and we know what really happened. Just one man's opinion here but to me this story cuts a bit closer to the bone than most available at this point. Looks like the FIA's view is that the issue isn't specifically about the use of current cars, as doing so was approved in advance by the FIA, but about whether they failed to conform with other conditions the FIA tied to that approval to use 2013 cars. Read that last two paragraphs. This was clearly a rules violation....no way did MB, the worst team for tire wear, wind up at a three day tire test with this year's cars and both their drivers by mistake, or because not one of the other teams showed up. This is MB and Bernie in a back room somewhere. This isn't about Rosberg, I like him and think he's a solid driver but his horse was juiced for this race.:sly:
LOL... I absolutely love how some proclaim to know the truth based on a few published snippets held together by the glue of suspicion mixed with personal feelings. How about letting them run another race? If the results are repeatable and verifiable (MB on top again when they should not have been) , then start throwing rocks.
:cornut: Yeah! What he said. "Let he who is without stone cast the first sin or something like that. Jason
