The very best top fuel dragsters can experience wheel hop, there is nothing about an F1 car that would make it impossible given the right conditions.....unless maybe they do have traction control.....
Wheel hop or hitting the rev limiter. It's an Italian news source for the original report so maybe their not happy RB and Vettel are beating Ferrari and Alonso.
From Steve Matchett, in direct quote from Red Bull's Team Manager, Tom Wheatley (FWIW): "Ok, seen the clip, been through the data and what happened, in chronological order, was 1) High degree of rear wheel slip. 2) Joint in the tarmac. 3) Cross axle oscillation. 4) Alternating driveshaft wind and unwind out of phase. If you have a look at the vid you can see the rubber marks alternate left and right rather than as pairs."
It actually started before the strip in the road. Look closely and you can see the tracks have light and dark areas whereas a bit further up the road it is only the dark patches showing up. Definitely something going on there. Sure could explain why Seb is able to get so much performance from his cold tires at the start of a race. I don't know.....sure looks like they are paired up, not alternating.
Power oscillating from side to side....fancy way of saying the limited slip is reacting to wheel hop/slip?
So it seems that while the main players now have slap marks that will quickly dissipate on their collective wrists the ones that will stuff the most are Sam Bird and Daniel Juncadella.
Laughable.... I did not intend to kill the guy when I walked in on him and my wife, but he is dead by my hand...... No sweat man, just be a good boy next time, carry on... oh and you can't look at your neighbors daughter next week.... This was clearly a case of the great MB being embarrassed on race day by even the likes of little Lotus, going to Bernie and the powers at be, and demanding assistance in getting a "grip" on the tire set ups or they might just pack their toys and go home. Don't anyone talk about NASCAR again....lol
In other words they didn't want to give out any penalties but Merc offered them one. So now they can say they did their job and punished Merc. So if that's all the penalty is going to be. Can we expect to see any other teams decide to go testing with a 2013 can and current drivers only to have to give up a young driver test?
I think now that the cat is out of the bag if another team does the same they will be hit hard. Rather than a slap on the wrist this seems like they are putting Merc in a time out that means very little to nothing.
"......we went easy the first time the rule was broken, but now it is apparent that we need to set an example."
Looks like I was right RB and Ferrari are talking about not going to the young driver test and doing their own 3 day "private" test. "ooo I'm so scared. They might reprimand me and ban from a test I don't want to do anyway"
