I can understand this. Maybe the boycott is to get teams some testing which is needed. But isn't this race slower than the race at Silverstone? That video sure shows Kimi's style of racing. Go for broke.
They should be safer at the Nurburgring but now there's been high attrition during a single race, of a dangerous nature and attributable to the tires, everyone is all finally beating the same tire-related drum, at least in terms of wanting safer construction. I think Whitmarsh's threat is a bit suspect just because the cynic in me says he'd be happy to see one less race with his cars mired in the midfield. On the other hand, imagine if those catastrophic failures had occurred on front tires instead of rears. More likely to happen under the stress of high speed corners and more likely to result in greater damage to cars and potential injuries. As Gary Anderson points out here, this has been a problem all season, started in Bahrain, just came to a head this weekend, though it may have been made worse by Pirelli's new bonding process.
Interesting picture of Vettel's left rear. Looks cut. https://twitter.com/Ryan_TWilliams/status/351453035639238656/photo/1
Almost as scary as the time the Toro Rosso lost both front wheels at the same instant due to suspension failure! [ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_5PfrikvQ7M"]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_5PfrikvQ7M[/ame]
I spit coffee all over my keyboard. Man that is wonderful!!! :biggrin5: Imagine the smile Webber had. :yesnod:
So.... just to stir the pot a little (in a good natured way)... do we now think that Pirelli was justified in running those tests with Mercedes? opcorn:
More on the new round of tests and tires here Kevlar belt tyres for Germany, new tyres for Hungary - F1 Fanatic It seems my suspicion of the handedness of the tires being a contributing factor is shared by Pirelli.
So hypothetically speaking. Say we go to Germany and say we get to race day and say another tire explodes. Will Chuckles red flag the race at that point?

In addition to all new engines next year, the engine use formula changes significantly as well. I knew they were changing the numbers to force greater reliability, didn't know anything about the separate modules thing. Ferrari says maximising engine life key to success in 2014 (autosport.com)
:cornut: For anyone interested, that was a 1903 Springfield Rifle. Probably not the first choice of a modern day sniper but then Movie technical people rarely 'get it right' using what's available in the property room.. Jason
