Loved the warm reaction Vettel got from the Italians after the win. Well deserved IMHO...

    Why all the Vettel hate?

I do not understand this, I see it on other boards too.......

What did he do in this race to deserve the Boos?

He was fast all weekend, he got a good start and did what he does best which is put time between himself and everyone else on cold tires.

At least he didn't have to rely on team orders to pass his teammate.

Meh because I would love to see some decent fights for first. When was the last time we saw one? Button chasing down Vetel in Canada last year? Couple of almosts Kimi had with Vetel last year, also?

One might call this one "close", but it was another wire to wire for Vetel. Ferrari blew it by letting Alonso stay out those extra two laps. He was never close enough to push Vetel. If the transmission was indeed an issue, he could have possibly put some pressure on the RB and see what happens. But the strategy did not give him that shot.

But the America's cup race today was fun to watch.

Yeah, those boats really fly don't they? When it was announced they were going to catamarans I didn't know they'd also be on foils!

I saw 45 knots on one of them, that's just over 50 mph!

I know we are going off topic, but the math on that just fails me. The winds were at 24 +/- knots. How the hell are they managing 45+? I know there was a story a few months ago about some guy inventing some thing that did something like that even more efficiently on land, but I just could not grasp the physics of it.

Although, I have to be honest. I would prefer to see them go back to single hulls. I loved seeing those big spinnakers and all the teamwork required to get them up and down during all those up and downwind legs.

In this case the boos were just the Italians upset that Ferrari didn't win.

But overall the same thing happened to Schumi. He drove unbelievably well and was consistently wining races and championships so people had to start whining and bashing him. It will happen to the next great after Vettel.

I hope Vettel can just brush it off and keep going.

And before all you guys say it's the car. Let's remember Schumi won his first 2 in a Benetton, far from the best car. Then at Ferrari Newey was designing for someone else. Webber has never done as well using the same car and having more experience. So you have to give the driver some credit.

Nah, I could hear Webber short shifting 2-3 out of the chicanes on the on board cameras. He lost a lot of speed doing that.

I watched the BBC broadcast though, so I've no idea if that was shown on our networks.

You have to think of the sail as a big wing turned on it's end. They can't go faster than the wind if they're going directly with it or of course against it, but when going at an angle the motion of the wind across the wing causes a low pressure area on the front of the wing and high pressure behind it - which in essence pushes the boat.

The same thing happens with fabric sails, but the solid ones are more efficient.

And as far as Vettel's driving - many people do say it's just the fact that he has the best car, but if that were true would Mercedes have won three time this year? would they have 6 poles?
And why is it that their more experienced driver has half of the points Vettel does, in the exact same car?

I think he makes the most of what he has, just like Alonso does....but again, Alonso would have been third or even 4th if his teammate hadn't let him by. Vettel gets no such considerations from his "teammate".....

On top of that, the booing is just poor sportsmanship.

    How's this for silly?

"Let's Talk F1" says the latest Ferrari 2014 driver rumor is Hulkenberg to replace Massa and Alonso and Raikkonen to swap seats.

Time to wait for some of the dust to settle. Raikkonen says he's going to announce in the next couple days, that should tame things down a bit...if he follows through.

Vettel absent from Webber’s leaving party

So, his driving and race win are worthy of Boos because he didn't go to a party?

However, since Vettel clearly admits that they're not friends, do you really think Mock Webba would have wanted him there?

    Much ado about nothing, IMHO.....

And you don't know this man from adam, who are you to make judgments about him especially since the only things you know about him you read online.

Of course, nothing you read online is slanted or untrue......

Speaking of Adam, I see others making judgments here too. The kid is very talented, but he doesn't walk on water. He has a fair bit of growing up to do.

The booing was because he was not wearing a red suit. Me, I thought the booing sucked.

Could just as easily say....."Why all the Vettel love?"

The guy is talented, but he is not a professional. He acts like a temper mental customer driver.

Vettel doesn't hide his feelings very well, but in a different way than Hamilton. Hammy will be very honest (too honest sometimes) with his feelings, and Vettel will sneer and look angry while saying something else. He doesn't come across as honest in many interviews, and that may be damaging.

Personally, I think all the drivers are Alpha personalities, but they all seem pretty nice to me. Some can hide their feelings better than others, and some are just more skilled at talking to the public.

I don't hate Vettel, he's convinced me he's a talented driver. I just don't feel a great deal of affection for him either. But then, I'd probably feel different if he were driving for McLaren. ;)

Vettel lost a lot of fans with his defiance of team orders at the Malaysian Grand Prix. There have been a host of opinion pieces since then on his perceived arrogance.

The thermal onboard during Di Resta's crash was pretty cool.

All 9 of Weber's victories have been since 2009. Before that he had 2 podiums in 7 years of racing. He has had 36 since then. I have a hard time believing that he would have had that same success on a different team with a different car.

As far as Vettel is concerned, I will give him credit for being a good driver. I just get bored watching him win over and over again, just like Loeb in WRC.

All cars being equal, who wins between Seb, Lewis, Kimi, and Alonso?

That right there I believe is called a paradox. Pretty sure the same space in time cannot be occupied by more than one object. :biggrin5: In my mind Kimi and Alonso have a slight edge based on some of the amazing drives from the back I've seen both perform. I just see them both as more natural passers, which to me is where the heart of a true race driver lays.
