Montezemolo must have had to eat a LARGE helping of crow to get Kimi back...... after firing him a year before his contract was up to get Alonso on board. And look how well they've done since .... 2014 is going to be such an interesting year in F1......I think it's going to be crazy! Still a lot of silliness to be had in this years silly season, lots of unaccounted for seats out there......but the first domino has fallen at last......
Looks like I will become part of the tifosi next season. Feels like Ferrari is trying to make a real run at the Manufacturers Championship next year. I forsee there being team orders issued based on who is the fastest in each specific race, not neccessarily based on who is higher in the Driver's Championship.
I bet Kimi is laughing all the way to the bank. Ferrari pays him 20 million euros to leave a year early & now hires him back. It will be a fun filled year in 2014. They can give team orders, but do you think either driver will follow them?
So, 5 teams had serious financial trouble this year, one won't get any TV money for finishing outside the top ten, and next year they're all expected to field an all new car with an all new engine and a completely different and more expensive KERS system......plus the engines and transmissions have to last longer than they did this year. Sauber Force India Caterham Marusia Williams Lotus Will any of them survive to be on track next year, or will we be down to the current top runners...Reds Bull, Ferrari, McLaren, Mercedes and Toro Rosso because of Deiter Madeashitzloadofmoney?
F1 without Williams would be a terribly sad thing. I really want them to get back on top for a bit, win a few races.
Maybe Frank should have stopped firing his champions and built a stronger team. I loved Williams back in the 80s and 90s. Too bad they lost their way. If that roomer of Braun coming on board is true maybe we'll see greatness again.
I didn't know about Braun but that sure wouldn't hurt, he certainly has a track record over the years.
I think Braun becoming part of Williams is a done deal.....makes sense too that he would wind up somewhere else, given the way Mercedes has been shouldering their way into "his" team this year. I figured it was only a matter of time, and I'm actually surprised he stayed for this whole season. That said, I wonder if he'll have any influence on who they have as drivers next year - if he has a favorite who might follow him to Williams?
Interesting article over at MotorSport on Kimi's return and the history of drivers who returned to Ferrari, etc. Here's a snip: Räikkönen’s second stint at Ferrari Full article here.
Say goodbye to the Singapore Sling Singapore’s F1 circuit will be a second per lap faster now the chicane has been removed, Fernando Alonso reckons.
Was a preview of "Rush" last night. If you think this a true story about the '76 season sorry. Its a movie of the events from that year and a little about how Hunt and Lauda meet in F-3. They are not friends in the movie, as they were in real life. Hollywood!
Saw this at another site and thought you guys might appreciate it. The car is identified as a 1959 Cooper Climax T51. See any resemblance to the modern day MINI bonnet, particularly the striping?
Interesting tech bit about how Merc solved their tire wear problem. They have machined the inside outer surface of the wheel into a heat sink that keeps the temperature down enough to reduce the wear. Tech Talk: Mercedes's simple tyre wear solution
I think Hulkenberg has that fire burning in him to succeed. From my perspective that fire burned out long ago in Massa.
