I think Benz will have their work cut out for them to win the championship this year. It's a tight fight & it has been great so far. I didn't see Ferrari's loss being due to bad strategy this time. Vettel was held up by Sainz & had a slow stop. That was enough for Bottas to get in front of him. Bottas was doing a great job & would have finished 2nd if his tires hadn't fallen off the cliff. Bottas had bad luck that gave the red cars good luck.

I was surprised to see Gasley finish so high. Maybe Honda is starting to figure it out?

Ricciardo had the drive of the race.

Yes, both Kimi and Vettel lost the race in the pits this time.....

I agree about the Honda motor - the combination of a team that works with the engine supplier instead of dictating to them or having them dictate to the race team means they will have a decent chance of success together.

The Honda has shown promise all season, but mostly on shorter slower tracks, I think when they get to the fast tracks like Monza and Spa the high HP teams will be ahead again. But they're leagues ahead of where they were with McLaren.

I think it may be Sainz. I sure hope Ricciardo did not do an Alonso & move to a team with no chance. Makes me wonder if he moved to get away from having to drive a Honda engined car.

Well, he damn near won Indy 500 last year, plus McLaren has been making noises about getting into Indy racing, so I think the chances are good he'll wind up there.

Mansell did pretty well when he went to Indy car!

Yup!! Funny ever since we started the LS swap for the 88 Esprit.. whenever a car has a problem we joke.. looks like an LS swap. In all seriousness.. parts are cheap, it’s reliable HP and the LS3 weight is light. Pretty darn good package.

I really like that livery. Let’s hope they win a race or two!

Although, I do wish the cars had that old nose.....

Are these painted on or vinyl wraps do you suppose?

I had always heard that f1 cars are not painted because of the weight of the paint, I guess every gram counts.

Yeah, I think that's a 2013 car just being used to present their concept livery for 2018. However the livery really ends up looking, it'll be wrapped around a car that looks almost identical (I assume) to their 2017 car.

That’s how Mercedes and Auto Union got to be silver - one year the car was 1kg overweight. Strip the paint off and the Silver Arrows were born.

Agreed - thanks Steve. I haven't been following it since I've been heads down on the migration. That said, they do look better...

Sergio Marchionne was recently quoted explaining that the new Alfa deal with Sauber is very different than the Ferrari partnership with Haas. Today rumors are circulating that he wants to match the Alfa-Sauber deal with something similar between Maserati and Haas.....
