This is from Jalopnik so consider the source, but not the sort of prices I was expecting.
The Cheapest Seat For The U.S. Grand Prix Is $159
-
Here is a link to the pricing on the COTA site: Get Tickets | Circuit of The Americas - Home of the F1 US Grand Prix | Nov. 16-18, 2012 | Austin TX- Circuit of the Americas
-
I have to admit, that General Admission pricing is not bad at all.
Now to figure out what travel and a hotel may cost to see if this is within my budget at all. -
Actually if you consider they are three day passes, the pricing is not unreasonable...
-
Oy...hotel rates are maxed out...
$199 a night with a 3 night minimum for a Days Inn... that's before taxes too. This is for whats termed a "budget" location too. $450 a night, 3 night min, for a Holiday Inn Express...
I want to go, I really do, but these rates are so high it annoys me to no end. At least the airfares are not terrible. -

Well at those prices it looks like a good time for me at least.

About the only way I can justify it is that my brother lives there in Austin, so I have a free couch to crash on, even so I figure it'll be a minimum of $1200 for the weekend for the two of us.
I'm still going of course..... -
OK if going, where is everyone going to sit?
-
Tickets to the Event - 160
Hotel, 3 nights - 700
Airfare - 575
Hmmm...thats like 1500. I can easily see this being a 2 grand weekend. I gotta find me some more clients! -

Or a cheaper place to stay!
I'm thinking turn 11 GA is where I'll start, anyway. -

For me the lower than expected prices were a surprise, here's another.

Wow, that's pretty amazing................and excellent news!
Now, if they can just get the damn thing finished in time. You realize the original race date has already come and gone.....IMHO they have a LOT to do still, and only 4 months to do it all.
I'll be surprised if the track is even as finished as Korea's for their inaugural race (it wasn't, remember? it was barely usable) -

The Wife and I were thinking about heading over to the track this weekend. Maybe get a few pics. I'll see what we can do.

I've been following along on their website, and somehow got signed up for Facebook updates, paving is coming along, but they still have a LOT to do.
Some pics from ground zero would be great! -

I just read an article about the possibility that the biggest inconvenience at the USGP will be hours of traffic getting in and out. The article itself was actually useless but here is an interesting comment I found posted on the page:
-
Hmmm...so no car club corrals for masses.
That is a big part of the fun at these events when there is a fair amount of downtime. Hanging with your peeps...
Year 1 - sellout
Year 2 - Not so much as people get frustrated with all this crap pretty darn fast. -

Yeah, I'm not sure what everyone expected. Those are Farm to Market roads out there. Two lanes. No way the can accomodate the traffic.
It will be worse than Las Vegas Motorspeedway after a NASCAR race. 3+hours to get out of the track.
No joy on getting to the track this weekend. The wife and I changed plans. I have some free time this week. I will take a swing out there.
