The control of the exhaust is nothing it do with a phone.
Jesus, some people really are just so intent on bashing the F56 that they forget to engage their brains!!!
It's a small, hand held, machined aluminium control unit which sends a Bluetooth signal to the exhaust to bypass the rear silencer.
The exhaust will have a Bluetooth receiver, which upon receiving the signal will electronically move a flap to create the bypass.-

Don't understand the need for the bluetooth part of the kit.....
A simple dash switch would work...
Being outside the MINI.... Flipping the bluetooth.... You still need someone inside working the throttle....
Sitting inside .... Flipping the bluetooth.... Makes no sense dealing with another dongle on the keychain... Seems like a poor use of bluetooth technology...
WHAT DID YOU DO WITH YOUR MINI TODAY....
Yep.... I'm in for my 50K maintenance.... Got my bi-modal bluetooth battery changed out.... 3 hours labor.... $225.00 I'm good to go.... Sheesh....
I do like the sound though....-

Uh, how many Bluetooth devices can you pair with a phone in your car at one time?
("Sorry I can't talk to you right now, because my MINI is in the fart-pipe mode. Please leave a message at the tone.")-

I can think of some really bad jokes about this thread....
Interesting idea....I guess the Bluetooth thing is to get more "tech street creed" even though a simple wire and a switch would be more reliable... But get far less press ....heck, CNET, etc will run a story about how techy the new mini is with a "blurtooth " add-on.... Guess they are hopeing a few folks buy it just for that reason......
I can just see the questions on this in a few years...having to tell folks to replace the batteries in their exaust.....-

Yeah I have an exhaust like that on my car but a much deeper sound, think less firecrackers pops.

I don't get it. An exhaust controlled by Bluetooth? Why not install a switch on the dash?

Yep, I agree. I like the bi-modal idea and the sound is pretty good but I'd like to know more about the bluetooth side of this thing. Agree a switch seems simpler, more reliable, etc, but maybe the bluetooth control biz is not quite what we perennial skeptics are visualizing?
