It is an increase in quickness!
Yeah, that's what they meant.

They made the GP2 faster than the GP1....
"Calling it the “fastest Mini ever built,†the company proudly notes that the spicy hatchback was tuned on the Nürburgring Nordschleife in Germany — which is exactly where our spy photographers spotted a camouflaged prototype back in March. The new John Cooper Works GP set a Nürburgring lap time of 8:23, which is almost 19 seconds quicker than the time set by the previous John Cooper Works GP."
So, maybe the F56 with the 2 liter will be compared to the R56.... But only faster...
We will have to wait and see.... -

Where is this article on the "ring times of the new GP?

From MINI's press release:
the new model has shaved a whole 18 seconds off its predecessor’s best lap time during testing on the Nürburgring North Loop

Wasn't this thread about the New Engines and Transmissions?
Lets go back that please. -
Although the original GP is the platform if I had it to do over again I'd chose, I was disappointed when it came out. Why? It was underpowered. The GP2 made the EXACT same mistake, it should have more power for what it is, and it's price point. They did some good things with it, but once again missed the mark. The GP3 may FINALLY get it all right. BOTH the GP and GP2 were misses; I don't "hate' either one though, but I do hate an apples to oranges comparison to make one car look substantially better than the one it's replacing.
Nate, I promise I'm out now, even if someone else calls me out. -

Why worry what other's think? What you think is what matters Rick.

So where did the article ever state what tires were on the GP2 besides "high-performance 215/40 R17 sport tires"?
